  • Seed Drill created by Jethro Tull

    in 1701 Jethro Tull created the first seed drill. This machine would plant seeds for the farmer as it gets pulled across the ground. It would plant seeds at the correct depth and spacing. Then it would cover the seed with dirt so that it could grow.
  • Steam Engine created by Thomas Newcomen

    In 1712 Thomas Newcomen made a steam engine design. His design was notable for using piston. It was first used to pump water out of mines. It used coal as a source of power.
  • The Flying Shuttle created by John Kay

    Made in 1733 by John Kay. The flying shuttle was an important step towards creating automatic weaving. This used paddles to shoot the shutter from side to side. Before the flying shuttle you would have two people pass the threads through each other. The flying shuttle made it so you could weave faster than two people ever could.
  • Leaden condensing chambers created by John Roebuck

    In 1746 John Roebuck created the leaden condensing chamber. This chamber is used to create sulfuric acid. The leaden condensing chamber does not create any pollution. It doesn't create pollution by reusing all the gas in other processes to make more sulfuric acid.
  • The Spinning Mule created by Samuel Crompton

    In 1779 Samuel Crompton created the first spinning mule. It was used to spin cotton and other fibers. Used from late 18th to early 20th century. This machine made it easier to produce cotton thread.
  • Wrought Iron created by Henry cort

    Henry Cort created the first method that allowed quality wrought iron to be produced on a large scale. He discovered the method of puddling. Puddling takes pig iron to wrought iron. Wrought iron is a stronger material than other irons. Wrought iron was used in decorations, making nails, and more.
  • Power Loom created by Edmund Cratwright

    In 1785 Edmund Cartwright created the first power loom. The power loom was the first wool combining machine. It is the predecessor to the modern loom. It replaced the Lancashire loom.
  • Sodium Bicarbonate created by Nicolas Leblanc

    In 1790 Nicolas Leblanc created a new way to make sodium bicarbonate from table salt. This method was the first way to make sodium bicarbonate quickly. The only downside to this method is the pollution it creates.
  • The Cotton Gin created by Eli Whitney

    In 1793 Eli Whitney created the cotton gin. This device was used to pull cotton fibers from the seed. This machine made cotton a much more profitable crop to harvest in the south.
  • Battery created by Alessandro Volta

    In 1800 Alessandro Volta created the first battery. The first one created is known as the voltaic pile. It was made out of zinc and copper. The voltaic pile created a steady current on both sides.
  • Sewing Machine created by Elias Howe

    In 1845 Elias Howe created the first sewing machine. This sewing machine matched that of John Fisher. Howe's machine used a lock stitch and the fabric was held horizontally.
  • Telegraph Cable created by Cyrus Field.

    In 1854 Cyrus Field came up with the idea that America and Europe should be connected by a transatlantic cable. The cable cost just over one million dollars to complete. This allowed messages to be sent in minutes rather than days.
