The United States began drafting people for the war. These people who were drafted began intense training, and many people who were drafted tried to dodge it. -
Cambrai Battle
The 11th, 12th, and 14th American engineer regiments were deployed to help in construction activity behind the British lines at Cambrai. -
Food Rationing
The Military needed more supplies so businesses had to start making less common goods and more military goods. Americans then had to register for a ration card so that the food they were getting was getting tracked. -

American troops arrive. General Pershing agreed to let Americans fight under French command. -

Espionage Act
This act was passed to prohibit many things such as speech. This basically made it a crime for anyone to give any information intended to interfere with the United States Armed Forces prosecution of the war efforts. -

Major part of the Allied offensive of World War I that stretched along the Western Front. Resulted in an Allied Victory. -
Attack on Pearl Harbor
Japanese struck on Pearl Harbor killing and wounding many people. Also taking U.S. ships out. This was basically the boost to get the United States involved in World War 2. -

Manila and United States Naval base at Cavite captured by the Japanese. -

First United States troops arrive in Britain. The 34th Infantry Division arrives in Belfast to relieve British troops. -

United States and United Kingdom launch an operation against French North Africa. -
Battle Of Midway
United States defeats Japan in one of the most decisive naval battles of world war 2. This was a major turning point in the Pacific campaign, this victory allowed the United States and its allies to move into an offensive position. -
Battle of The Eastern Solomons
United States and Japanese meet which results in a Japanese defeat. -
D-Day Invasion (Europe)
Allied soldiers invade a handful of beaches along the coast of Normandy. Omaha Beach being the worst battle losing roughly 2,400 troops. -
Battle of the Bulge (Europe)
Last major German offensive campaign. The Germans were able to push the Americans into retreat. Germans were impersonating Americans and all together after the three week lasting battle many American and civilian lives were lost. -
Surrendering (Europe)
On this day the Germans decide to surrender. At first General Jodl just wanted to limit the surrender of the people fighting against the Western Allies, but General Dwight Eisenhower demanded full German surrender. -
First Battle since World War 2
Troops go in to battle at Osan for the first time since WW2. The first American casualty of the Korean War dies here -
Sending AID
United States sends $15 million dollars of military aid and assistance to Anti-communist France. -
Battle of Pusan Perimeter
Lasting from August to September this was one of the first major engagements of the Korean War, resulting in a United Nations Victory. -
Inchon Landing
United States Marines force made a surprise landing at the port of Inchon. Was able to break North Korean supply lines and push inland to recapture Seoul. This landing changed the course of the war. -
Battle of Unsan
Also known as the Battle of Yunshan. Started in October lasting until November near Unsan. This was a Chinese victory. -
Battle of Bloody Ridge
This was between August 18- September 5 1951. This area consisted of three hills and their connecting edges. This was a United Nations victory. -
Battle of Haktang-ni
This was a United Nations Victory.This battle was fought between the United Nations and communist Chinese. -
Eisenhower's Domino Theory Speech
Eisenhower delivers his speech which basically means if one country falls to communism it's surrounding countries will also fall to communism. -

Gulf of Tonkin
This is also known as the USS Maddox Incident. This drew the United States directly in to the Vietnam war. It involved two separate confrontations involving North Vietnam and the United States in the waters of the Gulf of Tonkin. -

Attacked over one hundred cities at the same time. One of the largest military campaigns of the war. -
My Lai Massacre
A group of American soldiers brutually killed the majority of the population of the South Vietnamese hamlet of My Lai people including men, women, and children. This was due to the North Vietnamese hiding behind the South. The U.S then tried to cover this up/keep it secret until the truth finally came out. -
Vietnamization
President Richard Nixon decided after visiting South Vietnam that it was time to get Americans out. So after this Americans began training the South Vietnamese military so that they could fight against the North Vietnamese. -
Woodstock
This allowed thousands of people to join together to show peace and love during an extremely rough time for the country. -
The Draft Lottery
Alexander Pirnie drew out the first number. This was a way for the United States to determine who to call to military service. -
Kent State University
Students protested the bombing of Cambodia by the U.S Military forces. They clashed with Ohio National Guardsmen on Kent State campus and the Guardsmen killed four students. -
26th Amendment passed
The voting age was changed from 21 to 18. There was conflict with this change, disagreements from both sides. Some people thought this was too young, but others thought that if they were old enough to join the military they were old enough to vote. -
Watergate Scandal
There was a break in to the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate office, and then Nixon's administration covered it up. Later causing Nixon to resign -
Operation Homecoming
North Vietnamese released 591 American prisoners of war. This was the day the returned home. -
Iraq troops move in towards Kuwait
Saddam Hussein deployed Iraqi troops to the Iraqi-Kuwait border. He was trying to make a come back and this is what officially started the Gulf War. -
Operation Desert Shield
The United States has decided to move in to lead an initiative against Iraq. They began landing in Saudi Arabia -
Operation Desert Storm
Operation Desert Storm initially begins in January of 1991. This then lead to the Iraq war in 2003. During this time Hussein gives a speech about his neighboring country not being real and basically being thieves of the oil. -
U.S has a Victory
American and Iraqi forces fought a battles called the Khafji. This drove the Iraqis out of Saudi Arabia. -
Iraq is given a chance to surrender
President George H. W. Bush gave Iraq a 24 hour period to surrender. Iraq refuses and war begins again -

President George H. W. Bush proclaims ceasefire ending the war and Kuwait is finally free -
Operation Provide Relief
United States tried to relieve efforts by airlifting from Kenya to airfields of Somalia for distribution. Also wanted to avoid using the military in these humanitarian efforts. -
Arriving in Mogadishu
United States Marines and Navy Seals arrive in the capital of Somalia to help secure the area which they are successful at doing. -

New secretary of Defense, directed deployment of a special operations task force to Somalia in response to attacks made by Aideed supporters upon American forces and installations. -
The Battle of Magadishu
Also known as Day of the Ranger and was part of Operation Gothic Serpent. United States troops were trying to help the civilians of Somalia from starvation and engaged in a two day battle. -
Killing Military Police
Aideeds forces detonated a mine under a passing U.S. Military Police vehicle on Jialle-Siaad Street in Mogadishu killing four U.S. Military Police.
