  • Rehabilitation Act of 1973

  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)

    Mandatory Standardised testing which brings accountability to students and teachers.
  • IDEA 2004

    States must monitor the percentage of disabled students within ethnicity groups. Local educations agencies (LEAs) with high disproportionality will receive more funding (UnderstandingSpecialEducation.com, 2016).
  • Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

    Modified version of the No Child Left Behind. All students are guaranteed an education to prepare them for higher level education (U.S. Department of Education, n.d.)
