  • Month 1

    Physical-
    a. begin to lift their hands and feet
    b. eyes follow you when you walk across the room Intellectual-
    a. investigate their hands
    b. show preference to your voice Emotional/social-
    a. responsive to your own modes
    b. smile on purpose
  • Months 2-3

    Physical-
    a. begins pushing up when lying on stomach
    b. makes smoother movements with arms and legs Intellectual-
    a. pays more attention to faces
    b. begin to recognize faces from afar Emotional/social
    a. can briefly calm themselves down
    b. tries to look at caregiver
  • Months 4-5

    Physical-
    a. holds head steady when unsupported
    b. rolls over from stomach to back Intellectual-
    a. will let you know when they feel happy or sad
    b. reach for toys with one hand. Emotional/social-
    a. smiles spontaneously at people
    b. starts to like to play with people and possibly cry when playing stops
  • Months 6-7

    Physical-
    a. rolls over in both directions
    b. when standing, supports weight with legs while possibly bouncing Intellectual-
    a. will bring things to their mouth
    b. begins to sit without support Emotional/social-
    a. likes to look at self in mirror
    b. knows familiar faces and begins to know if someone is a stranger
  • Months 8-9

    Physical-
    a. pulls to stand
    b. starts to crawl Intellectual-
    a. plays peek-a-boo
    b. move things form hand to hand smoothly Emotional/social-
    a. may be afraid of strangers
    b. has favorite toys
  • Months 10-11

    Physical-
    a. may stand alone
    b. gets into sitting position without help Intellectual-
    a. explores things in different ways like shaking or throwing
    b. starts to follow simple rules like "pick up the toy" Emotional/social-
    a. has favorite things and people
    b. may repeat sounds or action to get attention
  • 1 year

    Physical-
    a. takes steps without holding on
    b. pulls up to stand and walks holding on to furniture Intellectual-
    a. copies gestures
    b. starts to use things correctly Emotional/social-
    a. shy or nervous around strangers
    b. cries when you leave
