James Watt
James Watt was a Scottish engineer that was born in 1736. He went on to create the steam engine, which was originally intended to pump water out of mines, but later was used for many things including steam engine trains and factory machines. He died in 1819. -

Made in 1793 the Cotton Gin was made by a man named Eli Whitney. It was made to speed up the process in how cotton was picked. One of its functions was to pick the seeds out of the cotton which reduced the time and man power used to pick cotton. -

Dynamo is a machine that transfers mechanical energy into electrical energy. The dynamo was invented in 1813 by Michael Faraday. He used this to make many break thorough in the electrical field. -
Karl Marx
Karl Marx was born in 1818. He studied things like law and philosophy. What he is most known for is his writing of the communist manifesto, which would go on to create a type of government called communism which was the mane type of government for Russia during the 1900's. He died in 1883. -

Tenements are large building that would hold many people in small rooms to live in. These people would typically be factory workers. But, the small spaces would lead to the spread of deadly diseases that could kill you. -

Alfred Noble was a Swedish inventor that had created dynamite. But, since his invention was used for war and not his intention (which was for mining) he created the noble peace prize. He died in 1896 -

Communism
A political theory made by Karl Marx in this book the communist manifesto. The idea of communism is all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs. This was the mane form of government in soviet Russia during the 1900's -
Socialism
A construct that shows up in Karl Marx communist manifesto, it is a specific type of economy. What it states is that the economy should be run locally and not from a government stand point. An example of a government that has socialism is Portugal. -
Germ Theory
What it basically is, is microorganisms known as pathogens or "germs" can lead to disease. This was a great wake up for may people because before many modern thoughts life wasn't very clean. The person who thought of this theory was Louis Pasteur. -
Social Darwinism
Social Darwinism is like Charles Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection but was used to justify certain political, social, or economic views.This idea was first brought up by a man named Herbert Spencer. It would also justify conservatism, imperialism, and racism and to discourage intervention and reform. -
Social Gospel
The Social Gospel Movement was a religious movement that arose during the second half of the nineteenth century. The Protestant branch of Christianity, began to tie salvation and good works together. They argued that people must emulate the life of Jesus Christ. -
