Cotton Gin ( Economic)
The cotton gin was invented by Eli Whitney. It picked the seeds out of the cotton. The cotton was very big in the south. It became 2/3 of U.S exports. The picking seeds out of the cotton was the hardest part of the process. The cotton gin was very good for American history it helped the economy and was the start of the industrial revolution. -
Gang and Task System (Social)
Task system was when the slaves were given a specific set of jobs and worked until the finished. Once they finished the extra time they had was theirs to enjoy. The gang system was more often used on larger plantations it was when the slaves worked from sunup to sundown. These two systems were good and bad for America they both helped the slave owners, but the gang system made overworked the slaves and made them more likley to rebel. -
Missouri Compromise (Political)
The Missouri Compromise had 3 parts to it. The first part was Missouri would enter as a slave state. The second part was Maine would join as a free state, keeping the number of slave and free states equal. The last part was slavery was prohibited in any new states or territories formed North of the 36 30' line or Missouri's southern border. This was good for American history it kepts the slave states and free states even. Later on it is going to cause problems. It is both good and bad for U.S.A -
Event That lead to Reform Movemetn
The Event that lead to the Reform Movement was Nat Turmer's slave rebellion. He killed over 50 white men, women, and children.
