Vladek meets Anja a woman he quickly fell in love with. Life gives him a gift he will very much appreciate as later in life she will become a person who will prove a great source of strength for the days of horror that lie ahead which he is not yet aware of. -

The theme throughout the graphic novel Maus by is that life has lows and that we need to gte back up no matter what. -
WW2 Begins
WW2 is around the corner and Vladek while traveling see a town already overrun by Nazi. The stories are flying around that the Nazis are becoming nastier by the day. Vladek and all the Jews begin to worry. Life gets ever more difficult for Valdek as now he can't even exist freely as Jews begin to be mistreated and persecuted. -
Vladek Gets Drafted for WW2
The main event that is talked about during the novel. He is taken away from his family and son Richeu. The two things he loved most and power his life. These things dishearten Vladek as many events like these do, but it also gives him strength in the sense that he has a motive to make it out of the war alive. -
Vladek gets captured by the Nazis and becomes a Prisoner of War
While in battle after killing a Nazi Vladek is captured by the Nazi who take his gun. Finding that the gun is warm they take Vladek concluding that he was shooting at their men. A further blow to Vladek's soul before he was a man fighting for his religion and county and now he finds himself in the worst place possible for a Jewish Polish to be. -
Vladek has a Vision
Vladek is sleeping at night when in his dream he sees his dead Grandfather. His grandfather tells him to remain strong that he will be liberated on Parsha Truma. Vladek later ask a rabbi when Parsha Truma is to which the Rabbi replies in 3 months. Life shows hope for Vladek telling him get back back up and continue forward this is one of many ups in Vadek's lfe. -
Vladek Escapes/Is Freed on Parsh Truma
Vladek is freed by claiming that one of the Jewish people is a family member because at this point in time the Germans mainly want to kill the people who oppose their ideas. Thanks to this Vladek return to his parents house awaiting to be reunited with Anja. -
Vladek Jumps from a Variety of Jobs Anything to Keep his Family in the best of Conditions
During this time period Vladek has to jump from job to job. He provides by buying and reselling with the right people. He only gives half the money to Anja's family know they'll waste it saves half for himself. Life is a lot harder, but a lot better than being stuck in a work camp. Vladek needs perseverance to keep going. -
Richeu gets Killed
Forced to send Richeu to live with Tosha and then when the Gestapo begins to kill all the Jews in the ghettos Tosha refusing to die in the gas chamber poisoned herself and the children. A massive blow to Vladek when he later finds out his only son is dead. -
Vladek and Anja go into hiding.
Now that the Nazi's are in full power and killing Jews Anja and Vladek numbed by the death of their son go into hiding. Life once again gets bad. -
Vladek and Anja get taken to Concentration Camps
The final punch that seems likeit's going to K.O them. Many people have died from the concentration camps to this point. This seems like an impossible mountain to climb. The hardest blow to Vladek and know he'll need o find everything that gives him strength if he wants to make it out alive.
