I am John Green and I am leaving Ireland today because all of my belongings were burned down by landlords. I was just working on the farm and these landlords snuck behind my house and threw torches inside, before I realized it was burning to the ground and it was too late to save the house, but luckily everyone got out safe. Rumors of Land

Ellis Island

May 24, 1862

I have made it to Ellis Island and it has been very stressful waiting in this really long line of people waiting to get inspected. The most stressful inspection was the medical inspection because if you didn't pass you were sent back to your home town. Working in a Chicken Factory

This week I have made it to America and was fired from my job and I am really sad because I really fit in with workers that needed jobs. We have been given a lovely home for housing while we are here. Migrating to the West

I have lost my job due to working too slow in the factory so I have decided to take a new path in life. I am going to travel with the pioneers to the gold rush. I have enough money for a horse so I figure it will be best for me now. Gold Rush

I have made it to the gold rush and I have been successful in finding gold. I have found roughly around 1 pound of gold and I am going to join in the race for land. The Land

The race was successful and I have chosen my land for the next five years. I have started to build a shelter for myself with the gold I have earned in the gold rush and my crops are thriving. I am so happy with my land. The Drought

Due from the lack of water my crops have been slowly dying off. We are going through a huge drought and my crops are being sacrificed. Since I have already been here for 5 years I have decided to leave my shelter and my land to move farther west, closer to the mountains so my crops can thrive again. I am bringing my horse and a few other supplies and heading out tomorrow.
