Arrived in U.S, New York
I cannot wait to get off this ship. The last few days sailing to New York has been a nightmare. Everything smells and most other people here are snobby and rude. A lot of people speak languages that I do not understand. But now I am happy I arrived safely. I bought a very small house for starters and I am going for a job at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. -
Got job
I just got a job at The Triangle shirtwaist factory. This factory has got to be one of the biggest in New York city. There are tons of workers here! Probably about four hundred. My shift is from 7: 30 until nine o'clock in the evening, it get's tiring. Since I am new here I only get about 6 dollers per week 7 on good weeks. Here we are not aloud to talk or even sing. People stand near us and watch us to make sure we don't innteract with others or make noise. If they see us talking we get fired. -
Factory Fire
Today, while I was working, a fire started on the ninth floor. Luckily, I was on the second floor when it happened so I got out quickly. It was horrible to watch. I was looking for my friend, Tori, to make sure she was okay. All I saw was fire fighters and people jumping out of the windows from the factory. By the time it was over Tori wasn't found because she had been burned inside. After the fire I was so depressed about what happened to Tori plus I couldn't stand the standerds so I quit. -
Got Married
After I had quit my job I met Memphy Paloodledoodle. After I had quit my job at the factory I still needed a small job so I worked at a small resturuant. At the resturaunt is where I met Memphy. After a couple months he proposed. A week later we were married. It was a small wedding because we only invited family and good friends. After we got married we moved into a house around New York. -
Farming with my Husband
Once Memphy Paloodledoodle and I were married I quit my job at the resurant. Memphy had been saving up money to start a farm. Since I didn't want to work at the resturant anymore I decided to also farm with him. Are main crop was cotton which we sold. We also grew corn. We bought chickens and sheep. It wasn't all easy but we worked it out.
