Beginning the blog
First Post In order to keep track and record the research, planning, production, editing, production of ancillary, and evaluation, the blog will enable us to present our work. I used the blog as the diary towards this whole project. -
Summer Work
Storyboard for Beyoncé Music Video
To prepare for the upcoming project, I created a digital storyboard for Beyoncé's Partition using Adobe Photoshop. I screenshotted each shot for the beginning first minute, then used the bush tool to create outlines for each scene. I also used Microsoft Powerpoint to align all of the shots that I digitally drew out and number them, which I then printed out and began to annotate -
YouTube for Research
Goodwin's Theory
I used YouTube quite often to research into different genres of music videos. This often included embedding the music vidoe into my blog. I did this through going on to share at the bottom of the video>Embed>Copy & Paste the link into the HTML section of my blog post. -
Make a Gif
I used this website through selecting a video on YouTube, and posting the link on this website and inserting the time slot within the music video where I would like it to be converted into a GIF file. -
Prezi
Vernallis' Theory I also used Prezi to represent the knowledge I had on Carol Vernallis' theory. I did this through pasting in images that relate to the sub-topic I was discussing in the text. I also embedded the videos that relate to Vernallis' theory through inserting the lip into the Prezi file. This blog post also included GIFs that I made on makeagif.com which I have used on several posts. -
YouGov
YouGov Blog Post
I used YouGov profiler in order to gather information on possible target audiences. I did this through searching up an artist then looking at the demographics and different aspects of a possible target audience member. I then screenshotted the results using cmd+shift+4 and posting the image on to my blog post. -
Prezi for Analysis
Analysis of Previous Student Work I once again used Prezi to analyse a previous student's work. -
Using Premiere Pro
Lip Sync Tutorial During a tutorial for using Premiere Pro to lip sync both audio and image, I managed to learn the basics for creating a music video. This included learning how to place markers on the right beats, cut the video and place the base tracks in sync. -
Lip Sync Video
Lip Sync Video
This process included planning the locations, then filming it on my Canon EOS 600D camera, which I often played with the manual focus on the lens and required me recording base tracks of the song varying in angle and shot type. Similar to the Lip Sync tutorial, I also edited the video in a similar format. This also included exporting the video and posting it on to YouTube then embedding it. -
Synergy Research
Emaze I used EMAZE to present my research, where I initially used Powerpoint to gather all of my information and converted it on to an emaze slide show with a different template, then embedded this file into my blog post. -
Shortlisting Songs
Shortlist
after discussing which song we should respond to as a group, we took down a smaller list, then embedded the original music videos to a blog post. -

Copyright Clearance
Clearance Letter I used Microsoft Word to copy the template of the copyright clearance and updated all information needed, then emailed the record company. -
Analysis of Original Products
Link to Padlet I used Padlet to analyse the original music video of out final song choice. This included inserting the music video into the centre of the pad and then double clicking to add my text - I also used this to analyse the original artist's website. -
Thing Link
ThinkLink I used ThingLink to analyse the Digipak for our song choice. I chose to use annotation links that differ from the background, so I chose yellow dots that stand out. I inserted the analysis of each element into the sections I wanted to discuss on the Digipak, then embedded the ThingLink on to a blog post. -
Draft Digipak
Draft In order to prepare for the pitch and upcoming ancillary production, I created a draft digipak to give a sense of what my ancillary products may look like in the future. To create this, I used Photoshop and applied the knowledge I already had on its functions. I used the Gaussian Blur tool to create the glow effect and also the smudge tool to create the effect on the lips. -
Social Media
InstagramTwitter
Everytime we went out to film, or were in an editing session, I would often tweet or post an instagram picture. I logged in the account on to my phone so I could post as we were filming. I took pictures whilst we were filming then sometimes edited the image for instagram then posted it. I also managed to create widgets so I could embed our social media on the side of our blog. -
Photoshoot Images
Photoshoot Images When taking the pictures on my Canon EOS 600D, I then took out the memory card and imported the images we took on to Photosnack, where it created a slide show of all the images. I then embedded the slides into a blog post. -
Timetoast
Production Schedule A production schedule was made on Timetoast in order to plan the duration and locations whilst in production. This was then embedded on to the blog. -
Animatic
Animatic Out final storyboard consisted of a physical drawing of each shot that we want to use. I then took a picture of each frame, then put it into an iMovie project and placed the song into the file and synced it to each shot that we wanted planned. I then exported the film and embedded it into a blogpost. -

Filming Day 1
Technology involved on this day included a Canon EOS 600D which recorded the footage we need for our music video. I used the camera to play with the focus and settings. We also experimented with using a Dido Light in the Graffiti tunnel, which did not go well as it did not project on to our footage well. I also Tweeted and Instagrammed images during the production of our music video. -
Filming Day 2
We had access to another DSLR camera, in which we were able to film from a Canon EOS 1200D, along side my Canon EOS 600D. This enabled us to shoot from two different angles with directly the same footage and action of the artist. We also experimented with using a top light on this day, which we found that it did not benefit the footage at all. We also used speakers so the artist could hear the music louder when lip syncing. I also tweeted and instagrammed images, locations and updates. -
Filming Day 3
Blog PostAs we forgot to bring the memory cards, we were limited to one camera (Canon 1200D), and filmed our car park sequence on this piece of technology. We also used Bluetooth speakers to project the song louder for the artist to accurately lip sync. We had a limited time in this location. This also required Twitter and Instagram updates, that was them imbedded into a plog post. -
Filming Day 4
Blog Post
We managed to use both the Canon 600D and 1200D at the light shop to film scenes of Haze walking around the location. We did not manage to film any lip syncing, as it went against the filming regulations. A lot of the footage included a play on with the manual focus on the camera. -
Filming Day 5
We returned to the South Bank graffiti tunnel to shoot the footage of the dancer we planned on including in out music video. This involved using both the cameras Canon 600D and 1200D to film different angles and shot types. We also used speakers on this day. I was also tweeting images alongside the filming. -
Rough Cut
Gathering all the footage we had on to a file on our video drive, we then created a Adobe Premiere Pro file to begin the post-production of our music video. Our initial ideas revolved around the same technique we used for out lip sync task where a lot of shots are shown at the beginning of the film to the beat of the song. We did this through using a series of cuts blade tool) and moving all the relevant tracks. We also put in our song using the mp4. to mp3. converting software. -

Filming Day 6
We managed to book a filming slot at God's Own Junkyard (Light Shop), so we returned and reshot some footage and added Lip Syncing footage using a Canon 600D. We used the speakers once again, and I tweeted and intagrammed images on to our social media sites -
Editing
Our editing process included importing all the new footage that we had and putting it in the sequence we planned to have it in. We decided to colour correct some of our footage through playing with the RGB curves effect on Premiere Pro. We also managed to use the markers and blade tool to create a flickering effect on the climax to the chorus of the song. -
Editing
During this editing session, we used the cross dissolve transition on to our footage on Premiere Pro. We also played with the opacity of footages along with different cuts to the appropriate part of the song -
Final Music Video DEADLINE
MUSIC VIDEOOur final deadline date consisted of ensuring that our music video went to plan and spotting out any errors on our Premiere Pro file. This required playing the product again and again to find any errors. We then finalized it through adding a fade to black at the end of it, and marked the file with a yellow marker so that it could be exported. -
Ancillary Research
ResearchLooking at the next section of our advanced portfolio - I began research into the functions of digipaks, in which I presented my research on MindMeister and ThingLink. I used ThingLink to annotate a digipak, and mindmeister to create a mind map of the research I gathered, I also used Creately to annotate real media products and Thinglink to annotate existing artist websites. -
Ancillary Research II
Ideas
I then used Emaze to gather all my ideas for my future ancillary products. This included selecting a template, then writing up all my initial ideas into various slides. I then embedded the slideshow in to a blog through copying the HTML and posting it into a blog post. -
Ancillary Research III
Ideas I then used padlet to gather where all my ideas for the ancillary products have come from. this also included pasting in images of real media products for inspiration. I then embedded this into a blog post. -
Cinema Premier Feedback
FeedbackAfter our finallized music video was presented at Screen on the Green at Islington Green, We used the Canon 600D to film the feedback we recieved from our audience. I then used Premiere Pro on my laptop to gather all the footage and create one feedback video. I used a fade to black transition for every topic change. then uploaded it to YouTube and embedded the video on to a blog post. -
Do's and Don't's
I decided to use a new platform to create a presentation into the Do's and Don'ts of design. I chose to use a software called Canva, which uses a series of graphics and fonts to create a form of slide show. I used this piece of technology through having a literal sense of the Do's and Don'ts and presenting them in a way that contraditcts its meaning. Unfortunately, I could not embed my piece into my blog, so I had to individually save each slide and present them as pictures. -
Web Digital Mock Up
Weebly SiteMy digital mock up of my favourite artist was required to be presented once again in respose to a digital mock up of work. I utilised Weebly through selecting a readymade template and inserted all relevant information in relation to the artist I chose. I created links in the navigation bar and embedded videos and music into the website. -
Process of ANCILLARY Production
I began creating the digipak on Adobe Photoshop using a template that was given. I designed my digipak using tools like the magnetic lasso tool, polygon lasso tool, gradient tool, masking, type tool, rasterising, gaussian blur effect, fill bucket tool, and other functions. I also used it to create a promotional piece for my website home page - this required using the magic wand tool to remove backgrounds of logos. I then expored the 4 panel design as a JPEG. I then used emaze to document process -
PROCESS OF PRODUCTION
GIFI used MAKEAGIF.com to create a gif of my screenshots of my digipak process. -
Ancillary - Digipak
I then exported my finalised digipak design from a Photoshop file to a JPEG, then posted the 4 panels on to a blog post. -
Wix
Final WebsiteI then used WIX in a similar process to my digital mock up web design. I seperately included all my content on to all the links, then placed all of the content on the homepage - which was inspired by Jess Glynne's site. I also used functions on the site like the music player, fade on transitions of images, gallery, contact strip, and other elements. -
Evaluation Question 2
Question 2
I used Padlet to gather all of my answer regarding question 2 of the evaluation. For this, I gathered all the images I had of my ancillary products, and inserted the music video. I then annotated the images and moved all the elements around to revolve around the music video, then embedded the Padlet into a blog post. -
Evaluation Question 1
<ahref='http://candipop15group4.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/evaluation-question-1.html' >Camtasia</a>
I used camtasia to record our music video from Vimeo, then cropped the page. From the music video I worked around the questions for the evaluation. This included recording real media products and comparing them to mine through placing them beside eachother, then adding my analysis by them. Once I finished my camtasia file, I exported it then uploaded it to YouTube and embedded this on to a blog post. -
Evaluation Question 3
This question requires me to list all of the technologies I have used throughout this whole project. I decided to use TimeToast and carefully go through every piece of technology I have used throughout the time frame from September to present
