    Palmer's First VR Headset Prototype

In 2010 when Palmer was 18 years old was upgrading old gaming consoles and making them mobile, he got bored because that was to easy and then started collecting bulky VR headsets and tinkering with them. During that time he made his first prototype of the oculus Rift headset with a 90 degree Field Of View. This kind of technology had never been seen before, and relied on a computer’s processing power to deliver the video.

    The DK1
After a couple headset prototypes Palmer made the Official Oculus Rift DK1 (Development Kit) in 2013
which was very bulky and had a 60hz refresh rate
  • The DK2

    The DK2
2014 was when he made a second headset. The DK2, the DK2 featured a more sleek design Actually comfortable to wear along with an upgraded display of upto 75hz.

Facebook bought Oculus and made the Oculus Rift
The DK2 was the last project that Palmer worked on in oculus until Meta/Facebook owned by Mark Zuckerberg bought Oculus in 2014 for 2 billion dollars and made the fully fledged Oculus Rift in 2016. The Oculus Rift was the best VR headset yet with a silky smooth 90hz.

    The Oculus Quest
The Oculus Quest headset was the first Standalone VR, meaning it didn't need to be connected to a pc for it to work. The Quest has a 3648 mAh battery which turns into around 3 hours of playtime, but a 2 hours charge time. It annoyingly had a downgraded refresh rate from the Rift's 90hz down to 72hz, to help save battery.

    Meta Quest 2
The Meta Quest 2, released in October 13, 2020 was the most sleek headset ever made at the time. I featured a 120hz refresh rate with a resolution of 1832x1920 per eye, but weirdly a ever so slightly smaller battery of 3640 mAh which is still like 3 hours playtime but 2.5 hour charge time.
