  • The Stamp Act

    Passed by the British Parliament to help pay for British troops who were stationed in the Seven Years' War. The act required the colonists to pay taxes on specific items with the specific stamp on it. It was established by the British government without any say of the colonies themselves. Payable in British sterling (which was hard to obtain).

  • Parliament Passes the Townshend Acts.

    The Townshend Acts were a series of taxes that were directed towards the American Colonies from the British Parliament. These taxes were to help pay for British soldiers in America, alongside helping to pay off debt from the Seven Years’ war. The most known thing that was taxed for America was paper and tea.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was a deadly riot between the British Army and American Colonists. The American colonists were fighting against the British propaganda of the Townshend Acts and The Stamp Act. This escalated from a fist-fight into a shooting/bloody massacre.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was an act of rebellion from the American colonists towards the British government. They dumped over $1,000,000 worth of tea into the British Harbor. As a result, the British government told the citizens of Massachusetts that they had to pay back all the damages regarding the tea that was discarded.
  • The Coercive Acts (Intolerable Acts)

    The Coercive Acts were a series or five laws passed in order to punish Massachusetts after what had happened in regards to the Boston Tea Party. A Quartering Act was added, which allowed British Soldiers to house themselves in American dwellings to try and get people to change their minds about the British Parliament.

    The first shoes of the American revolution took place in Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts. This marked the start of the war between the British forces and the American colonists. "The shot heard around the world".

    The Olive Branch Petition was a document sent out by the Second Continental Congress to King George III to try and avoid war. The petition was turned down, which only fueled the American Revolution.

    The severing of connections towards Great Britain from the 13 American Colonies. It was a declaration to show the colonists' motivation to seek total nd complete independence.
