    IB was officially founded in Geneva, Switzerland, starting with an IB Diploma Programme. It's objective was formulated as follows: "to provide an internationally acceptable university admissions qualification suitable for the growing mobile population of young people whose parents were part of the world of diplomacy, international and multi-national organizations"

    The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
  • DP Online courses

    DP Online courses
    IB starts a pilot online version of the IBDP to allow any student who wishes and who can afford it to have an IB education

  • Continuous Assessment

    Continuous Assessment
    Rather than taking final examinations at the end of the academic year, online testing and student tracking has made it possible to track a student's progress throughout the year and develop a standardized method to continuously assess all IB students. Pilots for this testing system will start in the 2020s, and all IB schools will use it by 2030.
  • English Main IB Language; Chinese and Arabic IB Official Languages

    English Main IB Language; Chinese and Arabic IB Official Languages
    Recognizing that Asian Languages are World Languages too, Chinese and Arabic become IB Official Languages along with French and Spanish. All students are required to take some courses in English to ensure all IB students are able to communicate in one common language.

    As the numbers of IB schools, students, and graduates increases exponentially worldwide, a young generation of internationally-minded people comes together to finally have an honest global debate about the distribution of resources and wealth, as well as the distribution of the negative impacts caused by a growing human populations. Genuine global cooperation leads to systemic changes that lead to a healthy biosphere for future generations.
