The day I was born
Dortmund, Germany, I was born into a wealthy family and a hard working family. My early childhood was full of soccer and hard work. My family wanted to leave Dortmund to find something new and fun and to make even more money than we had, we also wanted to find a new job and live a new life. -
Arriving at Ellis Island
We all packed up and left Dortmund to arrive at Ellis Island about two weeks later. When we first arrived I was scared and sad that mother has died but I knew that I’d be okay, and that father and I will make her proud. -
Checking into America
Waiting in that line took forever, I’m sure that it will be worth the wait. I was scared to go through but father said he would first so that made me feel a little better. I watched them so that I knew what to expect, and I wasn’t so nervous then. They only checked if I was sick and all and I wasn’t, and I was through. So I thought, we still needed to go through a legal exam and then we were through. When that was over I made it through to America and we were ready to begin our new life in USA. -
Steel Producing Machine
It’s been exactly one year since we went through Ellis Island, we have made a lot of money so far and we are making more. I work at a steel factory and so does father, we are making much more money than we ever would have imagined. We live in a pretty decent house and a decent neighborhood. -
Time to Move on
Father died today and I decided it was time to move on and settle down somewhere else, so I moved out to Columbus, Ohio and but my own house and settled down with a family and told them about my journey to America and they tell their kids about it and it carry’s down the line.
