(National) US Department of Education’s Office of Education Technology created
The United States Department of Education created the Office of Education Technology. Their main focus it to improve education through technology. -
(National) Goals 2000
Goals 2000 allowed states to apply for school improvement grants. The grants could also be used for preservice and professional development opportunities. -
(National) Improving American’s School Act, Title III: Technology for Education Act
The Improving American’s School Act, Title III: Technology for Education Act helped fund educational technology and other programs. -
(State) Technology Innovation Challenge Grant
Educational funding is given to Ohio from the Technology Innovationn Challenge Grant. In 1995 they were given almost $600,000, in 1996 almost 1 million, in 1997 1 1/2 million, in 1998 3 1/2 million, and then almost 3 million in 1999 and 2000. -
(National) Telecommunications Act
The Telecommunications Act of 1996, signed by President Clinton, allowed for schools to get discounts on telecommunication services. -
(National) Technology Literacy Challenge
The Technology Literacy Challenge was presented by President Clinton in order to make every child technology literate. -
(National) Net Day
Net Day allowed large technology companies to assist schools and libraries to connect to the internet. -
(State) Technology Literacy Challenge
1997 marks the first time funding is given to Ohio from the Technology Literacy Challenge. In 1998-2000 the funding jumped to 16 million. -
(National) E-Rate Discount
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) votes to give all K-12 schools and libraries discounts on telecommunication services. -
(State) E-Rate Funding
Ohio is given over $57,000 of funding in 1998, $41,000 in 1999, and $60,000 in 2000 from E-Rate. -
(National) Progress Book
Progress book is introduced. -
(State) CTC Programs
Community Technology Center Programs gives Ohio almost $200,000 in funding in 1998 and 1999 -
(State) PT3 Funding
In 1999 and 2000 over 2 million dollars is given to Ohio from the Preparing Tomorrow's Teacher to Use Technology funding. -

Internet access is available in all classrooms. -

Cart of laptops with modems are purchased. -
(National) No Child Left Behind
The No Child Left Behind Act was signed into law by President Bush and reauthorized the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. It expanded the federal role in improvind education for all students, especially disadvantaged students. It also makes schools more accountable for student progress. -
(State) Speak Up Survey
States, including Ohio, begin an annual Speak Up survey. -
(National) Net Day and Project Tomorrow Merge
Net Day and Project Tomorrow merge. Together they continue to improve the use of technology in education. -
(Hudson) Wireless Internet
Wireless internet is introduced to all buildings. -
(Hudson) PIF Levy Passes
PIF Levy passess earmarking money for technology and future budget. -

Reauthorized the Higher Education Act of 1965 to provide funding to higher education facilities. -
(Hudson) Digital Projectors in Every Classroom
All classrooms at East Woods are equipped with digital projectors. -
(Hudson) Document Cameras
All classrooms at East Woods are equipped with document cameras. -
(Hudson) EW General Education Teachers Get New Computers
All general education teachers at EW get new computers. -
(Hudson) EW Intervention Specialist receive ipads
Intervention Specialist at East Woods each receive an ipad to use in their classroom. -

HCSD adopts Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). -
(Hudson) 1-1 Wireless
Everyone in the building is capable of being on the internet at the same time thanks to an increase in density service. -
(Hudson) EW Goes Wireless
East Wood's goes wireless and allows teachers access to the wifi. -
(Hudson) East Woods Computer Lab
East Woods gets a second computer lab with 24 student computers. -
(Hudson) Google Doc Apps
All Hudson City School students are given a google doc account with a school provided e-mail address. -

Introduction of Google Ed Apps to all students. Students were provided a school e-mail address. -
(State) Assitive Technology
Educational funding is given to Ohio for assistive technology. The funding will continue each year with almost $600,000 given in 1995, 1996, 1997, and 2000. In 1998 and 1999 over $800,000 was given. -
(Hudson) SunGard Administrative System
HCSD decides to use SunGard as its new administrative software program. -

Oho participates in the Online Assessment Pilot (OAP). -
