How I Became Fabulous Me

  • Traveling to Ethiopia for the First Time!

The summer of 2009 my family had decided to go to Ethiopia for the summer. What I didn't realize was that America and Ethiopia were COMPLETELY different. As a kid growing up in America I was very privileged. I had cable television, clean water, nice bathrooms, and a nice bed to sleep on. Going from that to Ethiopia where they did not have clean water, barely any channels on t.v. and bathrooms that were outside, I hated it. It was so different from what i was used to it felt weird.
  • First Move!

After my parents started looking for houses they found this beautiful single family home but kept it a secret from my siblings and I. They thought it would have been funny if they told us we were being kicked out rather than telling us we were moving. One day my dad told us he was lost but really he was going to our new house. He told us that he was working on this house and he wanted to get our idea about it. A couple days later my parents sat us down and said, we were moving!
  • Starting to play soccer!

Since day one, my brother has always loved the game of soccer. When he heard that my cousins went onto a team he begged my dad to let him join as well. Since my sister and I didn't really do any sports my dad found this a great opportunity. The first day of soccer summer camp began and me and my sister refused to go. We were literally crying and throwing fits because we just wanted to stay home. My dad being as persistent as he got us to come out. After the first weeks of playing we loved it.
  • Getting Dogs!

My siblings and I have always been begging my parents to get us dogs. My dad would tell us he would get us one but we had to fully understand the responsibilities. A couple months later my dad got each of us fish to test and see if we were ready to handle the responsibility. Within the first months all of our fishes had died proving to our parents, we weren't ready. A couple years go by my me and my siblings convinced my parents to let us get dogs and it was one of the happiest days of our life!
  • Getting on to a Varsity Sport Freshman Year!

On the first day of tryouts I didn't have my forms complete. Knowing I couldn't try out, I still went to tryouts so the coach could get to know me. After getting to see what the players were capable of I was scared that I wasn't going to make it because I was not as good as them. It came to the last day of tryouts where the coaches announced who was on varsity and who was on JV. I listened nervously waiting for my name to be called and when they called my name for the Varsity I was so excited!
