America a new superpower.
Women started competing with men for jobs and also America was seen as one of the superpowers of the world. The other being the Soviet Union, this was due to a new found freedom in Asia and Africa and the decimation of Europe during the war. Letting the U.S step up. U.S experienced new social changes like civil rights, technological advances and overall lifestyle changes after WWII. -
Cold War
This was a time after WWII of military tension between the western side U.S and NATO and the eastern side Soviet Union and its allies the Warsaw Pact. The term cold was used and reffered to the fact that no big fights ever happened during this 40 year time period. -
Korean War
A smaller war and first war America was in after WWII, but still involved the U.S. Which were trying to stop North Korea from taking over all of Korea. U.S fought for South Korea while North Korea had the help of China and the Soviet Union. Both countries suffered major losses ecspecially North Korea. This war also was a segway into the Cold War. -

This was a huge technological advancement at the time, before the war 30% of America was living in poverty. But this shows how hyper industrialized the U.S became, with advancements similar to this. -
Civil Rights Movement
As people got back into the swing of things, they also needed change, the World was changing. new ideas came about like the Civil Rights Movement. This was a change that was needed, many leaders like MLK Jr, Rosa Parks and Malcolm led this movement. I would also say this is a huge part of America's history for African Americans to reach freedom and equality even when it meant risking theor lives. -
Martin Luther King JR
One the most influential people, speakers and civil rights activist of all time. Martin Luther King Jr led a change in America which also inspired other people to bring about new ideas. And different from people like Malcolm X, he used peaceful protests which led to alot less harm and also got his message across through boycotting, speeches and walks. -
Apollo 11
A huge advancement for space technology, this was the Apollo 11 where the Neil Armstrong was the first man to ever step foot on the moon. This was also a big accomplishment and huge change for America because they were the top country currently for Space exploration. This also evidence of how big NASA became after WWII. -
Abortion Legalized
This was another idea that came to surface after the war. Showing that people started to bec ome more comfortable with bringing up new ideas and inventions and societal changes. Abortion is the act of killing an embryo or fetus before it can survive outside the uterus. The legalization of this once illegal method turned a lot of heads and is still uo for debate today. -
Aids is discovered in the U.S.
One of the first major viruses discovered after WWII, the epidmic of AIDS is still very prevalent in today's society. An estimated 34 million people have died from AIDS to the current day and many people still have it. When it was first discovered doctors werenn't sure what it was and had to multiple testings to find symptoms etc. The AIDS epidemic reached the U.S from Africa within 10 years and is one of the leading causes of death in many countries and continents , ecspecially Africa. -
Rosa Parks
Another Civil Rights Activist that led the movemnt was Rosa Parks. Who refused to move from her seat on a bus and give it up to a white man. Making her an international icon of defying racial segregation. She also helped take part in part and inspired the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which ende up being an effective way to protest -
9/11
The attacks of September 1st were the first terrorist attacks on U.S soil ever, this not only changed security checkpoints around the world but also started a worldwide manhunt for members of Al Quieda. Also led to major U.S intiaitives to combat terrorism and changed America forever. -
The creation of the iPhone
The release of the iPhone was enourmouse technological advancement and the first smartphone to have a touchscreen and many more apps and gadgets that came along with it. Steve Jobs revolutionized the phone industry and today now over 94 million people around the world have iPhones.
