    Early Egyptians started to decorate their temple walls and carving symbols and art in 3,000 BC.

    Ancient Greeks started to form artifaccts of their drawings

    Middle Ages

    In the middle ages, drawings were made primarily for religious use and stories for the bible.

    Renaissance

    The evolution of drawing we recognize today started here. Italy was the first to respect art and use it heavily, drawing became important for their final forms of painting, sculpture, or architecture. Scientists began to draw to understand depictions of the world.

    The period was a new style of drawing was introduced. Artists began using water colors and ink washes.

    During these years, pencils were manufactured in the early 1800's and quickly became the most popular tool for drawing. This period produced Impressionism, Cubism, Expressionism, Fauvism, and many other art movements.
