  • Discovery

    In 1770, British Captain James Cook landed on the eastern shores of Australia with the HMS Endeavour. Cook's expedition offered important knowledge about Australia's geography, wildlife, and Indigenous cultures, forming the basis for future European settlements and influencing the nation's development. However, the arrival of European settlers also brought conflict, displacement, and a severe disruption to the traditional lives of Indigenous peoples.
  • First Fleet

    ]On January 26, 1788, the arrival of the First Fleet marked the beginning of British colonization in Australia. Captain Arthur Phillip led the fleet, which transported over 1,000 people including convicts, marines, and officers, to Port Jackson at Sydney Cove. This location became the site of the first European settlement on the continent.
