Russians launched Sputnik I and II into space. This was big because it was really the first advance into space. -
Unimate
In a New Jersey factory, mechanics installed a robot. This was the beginning of mechanical manufacturing, so that's why I chose it. -
First Computer Game
Steve Russel and MIT created the first computer game, Spacewar. I chose it because it was the beginnning of electronic games that have come to be very advanced today. -

Ray Tomlinson created email, which was the start of instant messaging. -
First Portable Computer
The first portable computer was a big (expensive) hit. I chose it because people could start to bring their computers from work to home and just transport their information. -
Domain Name System
The Domain Name System, or DNS, was created by Jon Postel, Paul Mockapetris, and Craig Partridge. This was important because people could start to identify websites easily. -
Google Founded
Larry Page and Segrey Brin founded Google. Google is the biggest internet browser today, and it was very successful over the years.
