  • Plankalkül

Plankalkül is a German program language developed Konrad Zuse in the early 1940s somewhere between1942 and 1945. Plankalkül's primary purpose was designed for engineering purposes.
  • Fortran Computer Language

FORTRAN was developed in 1957 at IBM by a team led by John Backus. Fortran is an acronym for formula translator. Its primary purpose is for large-scale calculations for scientific mathematical calculations and engineering.
  • MATH-MATIC

MATH-MATIC debuted in 1957 but was written two years earlier. and was developed by Charles Katz. UNIVAC I and II both utilized the language, but, the name is marketed for the Algebraic Translator III (AT-3) complier.
  • Lisp

In 1958, LIsp was developed by John McCarthy. Lisp primarily can be used for many types of applications, however, Lisp is particularly useful for Artificial Intelligence (AI) programming. Its acronym stands for list processing. Lisp is actually the second oldest computer language, with Fortran being the oldest.
  • COBOL Computer Language

In 1959, the Conference/Committee on Data Systems Languages (CODASYL) developed the language known as COBOL. COBOL or Common Business Oriented Language (in its full form) purpose is to solving business problems. Companies, government businesses, finance, and administrative systems primarily use COBOL.
  • RPG

Report Program Generator (RPG) was created in 1959 by IBM. Currently, RPG is used for business applications.
  • BASIC Computer Language

On May 1, 1964, two math professors at Dartmouth College John G. Kemeny (May 31, 1926-December 26, 1992) and Thomas E. Kurtz created the programming language known as BASIC. BASIC is an acronym for Beginners All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code. The primary purpose is to assist anyone in coding a computer, whether they are novice or expert.
  • LOGO

LOGO is a children's programming language developed by Bolt, Beranek, and Newman (now Raytheon BBN Technologies) and designed by Wally Feurzeig, Seymour Papert and Cynthia Soloman in 1967. LOGO isn't an acronym, although, the name derives from the Greek logos for word or thought. Logo's purpose was to teach kids how to code.
  • B Computer Language

Partners Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie set out to create a new computer language in 1969 at Bell Labs. This language is called B. Its primary purpose is for applications like system and software language that operate via non-numeric, recursive, machine-independent apps.
  • PASCAL

In 1970, swiss developer Niklaus Wirth. Wirth designed PASCAL for teaching structured programming. PASCAL is not an acronym. The program was named after the 17th-century mathematician Blaise Pascal.
  • C Computer Language

In 1972, Dennis Ritchie created the C language at Bell Laboratories. The C language is a widely used and flexible program that allows for maximum controlling of machine instructions. C's general purpose is for scripting system applications.
  • SQL

SQL (Structured Query Language) is utilized for communication with relational databases so that data databases need can obtain it. Raymon Boyce and Donald Chamberlin developed SQL in the 1970s.
  • What is Ada?

Ada is an intricate level of computing language. Created by Jean Ichbiah, Ada is named after Agusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace, who was best known for computational algorithm for a machine. The primary purpose of Ada is to reduce the writing time for the compiler by cutting the error time in half.
  • C++ Computer Language

This powerful general-purpose language has the ability to operate browsers, games operating systems, etc. It was developed in 1979 as an extension of the C language by Bjarne Stroustrup, however, C++ didn't have its first edition until 1985.
  • Python

In 1990, Python was designed by Guido van Rossum and developed by the Python Software Foundation. Its purposes are for Artificial Intelligence, web development, mobile application development, operating systems, and some video games. Python does not have an acronym.
  • Visual Basic

In 1991, Microsoft developed visual basic. Visual basic serves as a program that allows coders to alter codes via dragging and dropping them to define their behavior and look.
  • PHP

What does PHP stand for? PHP is a recursive acronym for Hypertext Preprocessor. A Danish-Canadian, Rasmus Lerdorf created the program in 1994. Its primary purpose is to serve server-side web development.
  • Delphi Computer Language

Evolved from Borlan's Turbo Pascal's for Windows, Delphi was developed in 1995 as a Rapid Application Development (RAD).
  • Java

Perhaps the most well-known program language is Java. Java was developed in 1995 by Oracle Corporation and designed by James Gosling. Java is primarily used for desktop and mobile applications. Other applications include big data systems and embedded systems.
  • Javascript

Javascript is another reputable program that allows coders to create interactive websites. On December 4, 1995, Javascript was developed by Brandan Eich which was originally called Mocha.
