The Revolutionary War
The War of the 13 British colonies against Britain to win their independance. The colonies renamed themselve to The United States of America, and were allied during the war with France, Spain, the Netherlands and some Native American tribes. -
The American Civil War
Durin the mid-1800's, the southern and the northern states were opposed as to the future of slavery. The southern states promoted it, the northern states wanted to abolish it. This led to the southern states fighting the northern states to become a seperate country. The northern states won. The southern states were known during the war as the Confederate states. -
WWI
In World War 1 over 9 million people died. It was caued by the creation of many treaties, which Germany did not renew when their term was up. Other countries were also threatening exising treaties. The Russians were losing their influence In the Balkan League due to Austria-Hungary, so they ordered troops to begin to march on July 29th, 1914.France declared War on Germany on August 1. The same day, Germany declared war on Russia. -
WWII
This is the most deadly war in the 1900's, with over 60,000,000 people dead. This war was composed of two parts, The Holocaust, or the systematic genocide of all the Jewish people in Germany and Poland, and the bombings between Japan and the U.S. -
Cold War
The Cold war was a war between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. The were tensions between the two countries, with times when one of the countries had almost declared war. War would have meant destruction of both countries, as both possesed nuclear missiles. During the war, there was never any direct fighing between the countries. -
Vietnam War
This was a war fought between communist North Vietnam and its allies, and South Vietnam. South Vietnam was allied with the U.S. and other Anti-Communists. An estimated Maximum of 3,558,220 People died. -
Six Day War
The Six day war was a War between Egypt, Syria, Jordan and other arab countries against israel. This is the war that gained Israel a majority of its current land, including Jerusalem. It lasted only six days, and israel gained the Gaza Strip, Sinai Peninsula, Golan Heights, the West Bank of the Jordan tiver, and Jerusalem. -
Yom Kippur War
The Yom Kippur War was a war between Egypt and syria, against israel allied with the U.S. The U.S. almost had to release it's nuclear weapons. the War is named the Yom Kippur War because israel was attacked on Yom Kippur, a national fast day, when the opposing armies thought the army might be weakened. Because they thought that and attacked, they were defeated by israel and the U.S. -
Gulf War
The Gulf War, also known as the Iraq War or Operation Desert Storm, was a response by the U.N. to Iraq's invasion of Kuwait. The majority of the forces sent to Iraq and Kuwait were American, sent by President George Bush. -
Second Gulf War aka Iraq War
Before the war, the United Nations claimed that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. The United nations requested that Iraq submitted to an inspection to verify that Iraq did not have Weapons of Mass Destruction. No Weapons were found, However the military claimed that iraq was supporting the families of suicide bombers and al-qaeda. The United Nations invaded Iraq, starting the war.
