The Declairation of Independence
The Declairation of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson and was used to declair indepenece from Britan who at the time was there government. John Hancock was the first man to sign the Declairation of Independence he wanted the king to see his name first out of everyone. McDougal Littell was the sorce of my information. -
The Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase happened when Jefferson wanted to buy the the port of New Orleans becuase he didn't want any of the farmers to rebel because of the port being closed by the Frech. He only wanted to buy the port when Naploean offered him the whole louisiana territory for 15 million dollars the territory was then bought on April 30th 1802. ( Mcdouglal Littell page 346). -
The Louis and Clarck Expedition
Meriweter Louis and William Clark were hired by President Jefferson to explore the newly bought Louisiana Territory he told them to make good relations with the indias and find an all water route across the new land. When they reached North Dakota they stayed the winter with the Mandan people after the winter they set off againg and this time they were joined by an indian girl b the name of Sacagawea who was a shoshone indian. -
The Texas Revolution
The Austion Texas government decided to go to the Mexican Governemnt with the request to become a self governign state within Mexico. The Mexican president agreed to most of the requests but he learned that of a letter that they had written to that if all of the requests were given then they would support the breaking away from Mexica. Then it was a rebelion. ( McDougal-Little,429) -
Donner Party
Led by two brothers Jacob and Goerge Donner they treid to take a new and easyier roght that would cut the didtance by many miles. But the route actually added many more days than cutting it. They later had the wagon that they were in stuck in the heavy snowfall that made them stuck. they were later ruduced to cannablisim only 45 of the 89 pioners were left from the journy, ( History.com). -
The California Gold Rush
One month before Mexico lost California from the war ended a carpenter named James Marshall found that when he was building a saw mill he saw a shiny rock. He knew that it was gold when he saw it. His discovery made one of the biggest migrations in the world and thousands of people moved out west to find gold.Because the journy was hard so many young men made the journy. Mexican American War
When the war ended it ended by Mexico Sighning the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The loss was horrible defeate for them Many of the Mexicans belived that the United States had proevoked the war. The treaty said that Texas would be be reconized as a state of the U.S. It agreed that Texas would get the Rio Grande Border as the border between the U.S and Mexico. Mexico also had to give up the Mexico Cessesion including Texas. (McDougal-Littell, 437) -
The Attack on Fort Sumter
The first shot was fired at Fort Sumter nobody was killed but it began the civil war. The unioin was overpowered by the confederates which led them to have to surender the fort to the confederates and they had to evacuate the fort. I got my ideas from The CWSAS battle history. -
Abraham Lincions Assasination
John Wilkes Booth was the man that shot and killed our 16th president while he was watching the play "Our Cousins America" while sitting in the state box he was shot. John Wilkes Booth had easy access to the president because he was unguarded and then he was shot. -
Pearl Harbor Attack
More than 2,000 military soldiers died from the attack of hundreds of Japenese fighter planes that bombed Pearl Harbor destroying 20 United Statees Navel Boats. That was when the United States declaired war on Japan. Then Japans allies Germany and Italy declaired war on the United States. That was when th U.S joined the war. Brown VS The Board of Education
Linda Brown was an African American girl who had to go to a school that was across the tow nthat she lived in even though there was a school for white children that she lived near a school for white children.
