Brown v. Board of Education
The Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka was a historic landmark for the United States Supreme Court. This court case was declared as an established justification in which the racial segregation in public schools were ruled unconstitutional. This law emphasized the educational rights each child despite their race, gender, and disability.

John F. Kennedy's "National Plan To Combat Mental Retardation"
President John F. Kennedy established a supportive panel of experts where he addressed the needs of people with mental retardation and mental illness. An act was created called the Maternal and Child Health and Mental Retardation Planning Act. This act granted federal aid for over five years to help those in need. "We must promote--to the best of our ability and by all possible and appropriate means--the mental and physical health of all our citizens."-President Kennedy, February 5, 1963 -
Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)
United States President Lyndon B. Johnson's passed a civil rights law that funded the equality of education for each child to a higher standard. President Johnson believed that a "full educational opportunity" should be "our first national goal." https://www.ed.gov/essa?src=rn -
The Community Service Act
This act provided a supportive economic assistance in a child's education despite the low income from the families. 10% of children enrolled in any Head Start Program must be children with any type of disability. https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/93/hr14449 -
The Education For All Handicapped Children Act
The EAHCA act was legislated by the United States Congress which required all public schools that accepted any form of federal funds to provide an equal access to any students with disabilities. Also, any child that had any physical or mental disability would be granted one free meal a day. -
Education Of The Deaf Act of 1986
This bill was authorized to provide quality education programs for deal individuals and to encourage an improvement in the programs. -
Daniel R.R. V. State Of Board Of Education
This court case is based off a child who was denied the right to be taught in a regular education classroom because he had Down Syndrome. The court's perspective was that the student would not benefit from being in a regular education classroom. Individuals With Disabilities Act
The IDEA, originally known as the Education of Handicapped Children Act implemented an updated four-part piece of legislation to ensure that any student with a disability will be provided with a Free Appropriate Public Education. -
The Individuals With Disabilities Education Act Amendments Of 1997
This federal law was passed to support any special education for any children with disabilities.
