Henry VIII takes the throne
He was born on June 28, 1491 and died on January 28, 1547.
Not much is known about Henry VIII’s childhood as he was not expected to become king. Henry VIII was the third child of seven (second son), although three didn’t survive infancy. King Henry VII and Elizabeth of York were his parents. He had a first-rate education from leading tutors, and became fluent in Latin, French, and some Spanish and Ancient Greek. His mother died when he was 11. His older brother died at age 15 -

Cathrine of Aragon was born on December 16, 1485 and died on January 7,1536. She and HenryVIII divorced in 1533.

She was then betrothed to Henry VIII, but in 1505 Henry was old enough to wed, Henry VII wasn’t as keen on having an alliance with the Spanish and the marriage was ended -

Anne was born on September 22, 1515 and deid on July 16, 1557.

She was previously engaged to the son of the Duke of Lorraine.

Henry did not find his new bride the least bit attractive and is said to have called her a 'Flanders Mare'
The marriage was only for political purposes.

Kathryn Howard was the daughter of Lord Edmund Howard.
She was the lady in waiting for Anne Cleves and came to the court with her at the age of 19. Sixteen days after he was free of Anne, henry married Kathryn Howard.
She was greatly rumored to be an infidel.
Kathryn was executed for being unfaithful to the king. -

Katherine Parr outlived her husband Henry VIII
She was fluent in French, Latin and Italian and began learning Spanish when she was Queen.
She was married twice before she caught King Henry VIII eye.
Katherine was interested in the reformed faith, making her enemies with the conservatives of Henry’s court.
Acquired several banned books which were grounds for arrest and heresy, but nothing ever happened. -

He was born October 12, 1537 badn died July 6, 1553.

Edward was the third monarch of the Tudor dynasty and England's first monarch raised as a Protestant.
He trransformed the Church into a recognizably Protestant body.
When his sickness was discovered to be terminal, he and his Council drew up a "Devise for the Succession".
He knew three other languages other than English, including French, Spanish and Italian.
His last words were, "I am glad to die." -

Mary I of England takes the throne
Mary was born February 18, 1516 and died November 17, 1558.
5 interesting facts/claims to fame:
She married King Phillip II of Spain.
When Mary returned England to Roman Catholicism, she persecuted Protestants and 300 are burnt at the stake.
Mary he had been restored as second in line to the throne, after her half-brother Edward.
Mary first began to earn her unofficial title of “Bloody Mary” when she killed her cousin, Lady Jane Grey.
Mary died at the age of 42 from uterine or ovarian cancer. -

Elizabeth I of England takes the throne
She was born February 18, 1516, and died March 24, 1603
5 interesting facts/claims to fame:
Elizabeth was the fifth and last monarch of the Tudor dynasty.
During Mary’s reign she had been imprisoned for nearly a year on suspicion of supporting Protestant rebels.
One of her first moves as queen was the establishment of an English Protestant church.
Elizabeth became famous for her virginity.
She only half-heartedly supported a number of ineffective, poorly resourced military campaigns. -

Act of Supremacy
Elizabeth declared herself Supreme Governor of the Church of England, and instituted an Oath of Supremacy, requiring anyone taking public or church office to swear allegiance to the monarch as head of the Church and state. Anyone refusing to take the Oath could be charged with treason. This was called the Act of Supremacy. -
