King Henry Takes the Throne
King Henry the VIII still remains one of the most important monarchs to rule England for lasting almost four decades. Growing up, King Henry came an appetite for exercise and when he obtained a chronic invalid leg, he came an appetite for eating and gained excessive weight. Became one with academics and culture as he learned to be a good musician, obtain and read thousands of books, and spoke to experts on all subjects. His only conventional vices were gluttony, ostentation, and gambling. -

Marriage to Catherine of Aragon
Was the youngest survivor of Ferdinand and Isabella, joint rulers of Spain. Actually married to Prince Arthur, brother of King Henry VIII, before she was re-married. First child was a stillborn daughter born prematurely as a dissapointment. Then a young prince Henry that was something to celebrate until he died after 52 days. Actually got pregnant a few more times and the only one to survive was Mary. Forseen as humble and loyal. -

Marriage to Anne Boleyn
Actually transfered to the household of Mary, Henry the VIII's sister who was married to Louis XII of France. During her stay in Fracne, learned to speak French fluently and develop a taste for French cclothes, poetry, and music. Didn't seem all that appealing to most people, considered moderately pretty, and called "one of the most handsomest woman" by a Venetian Ambassador. King Henry sought to make Anne a misstress, but she said "Quenn or nothing." Executed for adultery. The Most Happy. -

Act of Supremacy
When the English Act of Parliment recognized King Henry the VIII as the "Supreme Head of The Church of England." When the Pope denied King Henry's annulment from Catherine of Aragon, he went on a rampage and told Parlimant to write him a law that made him head of the church, in this case, why he broke away from the Roman Church to create his own. -

King Henry VIII actually stayed at the Seymour family home and that is when he noticed Jane. Sought to entice the King and faunt her favor in front of the current Queen (Anne) to get his attention. Within 24 hours of Anne Boleyn's execution, betrothered to King Henry VIII. First "true wife" to King Henry VII as she gave birth to a prince, Edward. Died two weeks after her son's birth. Bound to Obey and Serve. -

Marriage to Anne of Cleves
Holbein, a famous Tudor court painter, painted the sisters of the Duke of Cleves, Henry the VIII saw his work and decided to have a contract drawn up for his marriage to Anne. Shortly after the marriage, King Henry VIII already started thinking of ways to get out of it. Concentrated on domestic skills, not music and literature practiced at the Court. Found her the least bit attractive and created political tension with the Duke of Cleves. Forseen as "God Send Me Well to Keep." -

Marriage to Kathryn Howard
Came to the court at the age of 19 as a lady waiting for Anne of Cleves and already caught Henry's attention. Kathryn's father encouraged to go after King Henry VII becasue he saw it as a way to increase his power as Duke of Norfolk. When they married, Henry was 45 and Kathryn was 19. As he lavished his wife with gifts, Kathryn helped take his mind off of the pain of his leg and his obesity. Forseen as "No Other Will Than His." -

Katherine mother, Maud, was actually the lady waiting for Queen Catherine of Aragon. Katherine was noticed by King Henry VIII and Thomas Seymour. After choosing Thomas she went to King Henry VIII as he offered for here hand, and she felt it was her duty to accept. Interested in reformed faith, making her enemies with the conservatives of Henry's Court. Widowed after King Henry's death in1547. Forseen as "To Be Useful in All That I Do." -

King Edward Takes the Throne
Came to the throne after the death of his father when he was only 10 years old. Was a devout Protestant and introduced a uniform Protestant service. Grew up as a sickly child and suffered form tuberculosis. Declared his sisters Mary and Elizabeth illegitimate to rule. Declared Lady Jane Grey as his heir to ensure the Protestant religion would carry on in England. -

Queen Mary Takes the Throne
Married to King Philip II of Spain. Mary was 11 years older than Philip. The English Parliment refused to crown him jointly with Mary so he had little power in England. After the marriage, announced her pregnancy, but it turned out false. Returned Mary to Roman Catholicism and any Protestants were persecuted and burnt at the stake. -

Queen Elizabeth Takes the Throne
Once named Queen, immediately repealed the Catholic Legislation introduced by Mary. Nevery married and obtained teh name "The Virgin Queen." During her reign, England prospered and New Lands were explored. Also during her reign, the great Spanish Armada was defeated and England remained safe from foreign invasion. Referred to the greatest of all Kings and Queens of England. -

Act of Supremacy 1559
Queen Elizabeth saw her father's Act of Supremacy in 1534 and decided to make her own. She asked Parliment to write a law crowning her "Supreme Govenor of the Church of England." She instituted an oath of Supremacy for anyone taking public or church office, anyone who didn't take the oath would be tried with treason. -
