He was born in greenwhich palace like the all the other tudor monarchs except Henry VII. He was the son of Henry VII and Elizabeth York. Henry VII was the king of England at the time. Henry was named after his father. Since he was the second son he was not expected to become king. There is litle to know of his childhood until the death of his older brother Arthur, Prince of Wales. Henry lived in wales most of is life and was focused more after the death of this brother, Aurther, Prince of Wales. -

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection. When the French king Charles VIII invaded Italy and conquered Naples in 1495 his mercenaries got infected through sexual activity. They then returned home and spread the infection all over Europe. -

The first regularly organized national races were established in England under King Charles II. These early races were match events between two or three horses and were run in heats. A horse had to complete at least two heats to be judged the winner. -

Henry VII dies
On this day King Henry VII died at Richmond Palace. He was easily ill ever scince the spring of 1507 when it was feared that he would die of a severe throat infection. His death was kept secret for three days and then his son was proclaimed King Henry VIII on the morning of Tuesday 24th April at London. This was the start of King Henry VIII's era. -

Henry VIII took over the English throne in 1509 when his father Henry VII died. this was the start of a very sucsesfull reign. Henry VIII was a very popular king and left with alot of wealth. as a good looking, He was a very intelligent man who was successful in a number of ways, such as dancing, hunting, and he even wrote music that he was able to play himself. -

On this date Henry VII marries his brothers widow Catherine of Aragon. The marriage took place in a private ceremony in Greenwhich Palace. As soon as the marrige was over they prepared for a double coronation of King Henry VIII and Queen Catherine. -

Constantinople destroyed
In 1509 an earthquake destroyed Constantinople. The earthquake was called the Istanbul earthquake. there was 45 days of aftershocks. Also over a thousand houses and 109 mosques were destroyed, and an estimated 10,000 people died. -

Mary I was born
Mary was the only surviving child of Henry and Catherine. She is referred to as Mary Tudor or "Bloody Mary". Mary I was queen from 1553 to 1558. She was brought up as a strict Roman Catholic and was horrified by her half-brother’s changes. She completely reversed the religious changes of Edward. -

Anne Boleyn was Queen of England from 1533 to 1536. She was the second wife of Henry VIII. She was key to the start of the English Reformation. -

Jane Seymour dies
It wasnt until February of 1536 that there was evidence of Henry's love for Jane. At that point Henry's disinterest in Anne was obvious and Jane replaced Anne as king. Henry had already been preparing his own tomb at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle and that is where he burried Jane. She was the only wife out of the six thats was burried with him. -

4th wife Anne of Cleves had a son Edward VI
Edward VI was trhe king of Ireland and Endland at one time. He was the only child of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour. His mother Jane died of puerperal fever twelve days later. He died at Greenwich on the 6th of July 1553. -

Catherine Howard exicuted
On this day Catherine Howard was executed at the Tower of London. Members of the the Kings Council arrived at Tower to serve as witnesses to Catherine’s execution. She was exicuted by kneeling down and geting her head choped of by a axe. -

Death of Henry VIII
The King died at Whitehall Palace. He was age 55 when he died. The day before his death Henry saw his confessor and received Holy Communion. It was treason to predict the kings death so none of the doctors wanted to tell him even though it was avious he was ill.
