DId you rememeber to renew your contract?
http://privacy.med.miami.edu/glossary/xd_ccpa.htm Cable companies everywhere are cracking down on cable contracts. Every year, you are expectd to renew your contract with your cable company. This contract ensures that your information will not be shared with other companies. I give this policy an A+, because no one likes their information being shared with other companies, so it gives people a sense of relief. -
Wiretapping
http://epic.org/privacy/ecpa/ The Electronic Communications Act of 1986 makes it illegal for people to tap into your phone lines. This act is also known as "wiretapping". Through wiretapping, people can see your emails, text messages, and even listen to your phone calls. I give this Act an A+ because no one should be feared by the fact that someone else can see their emails. -
Is your child on the web?
https://cdt.org/insight/testimony-of-deirdre-mulligan-before-the-senate-committee-on-commerce-science-and-transportation-subcommittee-on-communications/ Whether parents like it or not, their children are on the web. Parents do not always know what wbsites their child is on. The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, ensures that agencies cannot obtain information from minors. I give this act a B because minors do not really know what goes on the internet, so it protects them. -
"911, what is your emergency?"
http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/PLAW-106publ81/pdf/PLAW-106publ81.pdf The Wireless COmunications and Public Safety Act of 1999, gives American citizen's the feeling of safety. Whether it is a fire, burglery, etc, all citizens need to do is dial 911, and request the help they need. I give this act an A+ because not everyone can remember different numbers for differnet emergencies. -
Social media information being requested!
http://www.ncsl.org/research/telecommunications-and-information-technology/employer-access-to-social-media-passwords.aspx Before the year 2012, employers were able to make their employees, give their usernames and passwords to all social media websites. Many people beleived it was unjust. This law ensures that employeers can no longer ask for that information. I give this law an A+ because I beleive what you put online is your business, unless it's hurting someone. -

Through this Bill of RIghts Act, Obama ensures Americans that interent sites have to have security settings. These settings let people choose what others can see. I give this act an A+ because it gives each American an equal oppurtunity to be private as possible, or as open as they wish. -
Digital Photos can be harmful.

Code 22575, minors now have thr gith to remove their photos from any website they wish. This act ensures minors that they are safe on the internet. Under this Ca. code, minors also cannot advertise for products they legally cannot purchase. I give this act a C because the process of remvoing your photo from the web is long and no one wants to go through that.
