    The success of the college that witherspoon had within the college he was teaching turned him into a successful and popular man. The reason he was an important influence of the Foundations of American Government was because he used his popular status to be a vocal supporter of independence and the revolution. It also helped that John was a well written scholar.
  • John Hancock

    John Hancock
    John Hancock was an important historical figure because he had a great impact on events such as the Declaration of Independence. He was important to the foundations of American Government because he was a firm believer in independence and the American Revolution which helped form America. He also had the first signiture on the Declaration of Independence.
  • Charles Carroll

    Charles Carroll
    Charles Carrol was an educated scholar who firmly believed in Independence from Britain. Since he was educated he wrote many articles protesting the British, specifically their right to tax the Americans so much. Through his words and action, towards war, he helped convince people of Maryland that the war of Independence was a very important and needed action for the American people.

    John Jay was a founding father of America. Jay fully supported the ratification of the Constitution, with his popularity and education Jay was able to use his writing to aide in the popularity of the idea of the Constitution. He was important to the Foundations of American Government because he helped popularize the idea of America's freedom.

    Benjamin Rush was a very well practiced physician and an excellent writer. He was important to the foundations of American Government because his writing influenced many people. If and when he did write about the government in favor or against something it would influence the people to choose something.

    John Peter Mulenberg was an important figure of America. He is related to the foundation of American Governement because he served was general in the American Revolution. WIthout his war tactics we may not have defeated the British in the fight for our independence.

    John Trumbull Sr was a painter who helped other people for many generations to come witness the American Revolution through his paintings. His paintings are important to the Foundations of American Government because they help show the later generations what happened during these times. They also documented what writing couldn't during events like the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

    The declaration of Independence was the very foundation of America as we know it. It allowed for the early settlers to become their own country, one that was seperate from Britain. Without this document, we may have never seperated America from the British.

    "E Pluribus Unum" literally means "One out of many." This is a motto of the United States. This alludes to the union of the federal government and the states. The motto or seal of the united states is important because it gave a base foundation of what the united states is or was to become as the government grew.

    The United States Constitution set up all the rules and breakdown of the government we have in America. The importance to the Foundations of American Government is that it literally set up the Government. This document in itself was the foundation for what we know in America today as our government.

    The Bill of RIghts is significant to the foundations of American Government because iit allows for citizens in America to be protected by the government. Without the Bill of Rights, there would be no specific details about what the citizens had the right to do. This would have caused the governement to have too much power or not enough specifics to convict or protect citizens and what they need.

    The fifth amendment is the right to remain silent; that no one can be charged twice for the same crime. This amendment helps protect the citizens of America from government overrule and abuse of the system. The way this amendment protects the citizens is by allowing them to remain silent when in question for a crime. This amendment is important to the foundations of American Government because it allows for people to have their freedom which, without this amendment, would not have been possible

    Eminent Domain states that the government can sieze private property for public use in return of reasonable compensation. This is important to the foundations of American Government becuase it allows for the government to build roads, parks, museums, and other public places available in America. Without this we wouldn't be able to have all these public places available to the people in America.

    In god we trust is significant because it shows that are nation is built on the belief of christianity or religion in general. This helps set up the foundation of America because it gives a basic belief system and motto for us to follow and put on our coins.

    Alex de Tocquevile and his Five Principles are Liberty, Egalitarianism, Individualism, Populism, and Laissez-faire. All of these principles are what the basic of the American democracy is based off of. With these principles it is easy to understand what makes America's government successful and able to stand on it's own
