    Month One

    In month one the fetus is the size of a pin head. The internal organs and circulatory system begin to form also. The heart also begins to beat around the end of the first month.

    Month Two

    In month two the fetus is about 1/4 inch long as the month begins. The fetus is slowly developing it's eyes, ears, and limbs during this month. Even though this month is very productive for the baby's development they are not able to do anything physically yet.

    Month Three

    In month three the fetus will be around 1 inch long as the month begins. The nostrils, mouth, lips, and eyelids will have formed during this month. By the end of the month; the buds for all 20 baby teeth will have formed. This is another big month for development for the fetus yet the fetus still can't do anything significant.

    Month Four

    At the beginning of the fourth month the fetus is around 3 inches. The facial features have become more evident as the month goes on. Now not only does the fetus develop a little more this month it also can suck its thumb, swallow, hiccup, and it can move around.

    Month Five

    During the fifth month the fetus will be around 6 1/2 to 7 inches. It will also weigh around 4-5 ounces. Hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows also will have formed by the end of the month. The teeth will continue to develop and the baby will become much more active.

    Month Six

    The baby will have grown quite a bit by the time the sixth month has started. It will be around 8-10 pounds and weigh about 8-12 ounces. The fat will deposit under the skin, but the skin will still appear wrinkled. The baby's breathing movements will also begin around this month also.

    Month Seven

    Month seven is not as active as the past months have been. The baby will be around 10-12 inches by the end of the month. The baby will also have major periods of activity and the following few days will be rest and quiet.

    Month Eight

    The size of the baby will be around 14-16 inches and will weigh around 2 1/2 - 3 pounds as the month begins. The rapid weight gain continues as the month goes on. The baby may react to loud noises with a reflex jerking motion towards that noise. The baby will also move into a head-down position in the womb.
  • Period: to

    Month Nine

    In the ninth month the baby should be around 17-18 inches and should weigh around 5-6 pounds. Even then, weight gain will continue. The skin will become smoother and plumper as the fat is deposited under the skin. They will gain antibodies from their mothers' blood and will descent into the pelvis, ready for birth. The baby may come early or could come late.
