Fall 2019-Fall 2020

  • Fall 2019: Before the Semester Begins

Goal #1: Save up and apply for Psy Chi. While one of the more expensive options, it being a lifetime membership makes it worth prioritizing while I budget for other student-oriented affiliations. I intend for this to lay my extracurricular foundations so that I may more easily branch out for the remainder of my junior and senior years.
  • Fall 2019: When the Semester Begins

Goal #2: Set aside the time for UAA psychology club. I haven't participated in club activity and engagement since my freshman year, and I want to revisit the prospect so that I may not regret having neglected the opportunities while they were still available to me. I hope to form new connections and strengthen the ones I already have within the program and department by accomplishing this.
  • Fall 2019: Before the Semester is Over

Goal #3: Seek additional student employment and/or teacher's assistant position that relates closest to my degree. While I am thankful for the longevity and stability I have maintained with my position with the UAA Honors College, there are other departments I would also be delighted to work with while I'm still here as an undergraduate student. Similarly, I would like to start working as directly with the psychology department as I can, and I think a TA would be a good first step for this.
  • Spring 2020

Goal #4: Apply for undergraduate research. I have processed many proposals from fellow students for ymposium events handled by or in part by the UHC, but I really want to be the one doing the proposing for myself just once. It would not only be a great opportunity to work with faculty before my senior thesis, but this could also serve a good first step for that. Having seen the symposium for 3 years, I am familiar with the process and I am confident I could pull off something more than adequate.
  • Summer 2020

Goal #5: Volunteer for a local program or non-profit organization. With the skills I should have under my academic belt by this point, I want to pursue opportunities where I can apply this directly and for the benefit of those in my community. I would look at mental health organizations or any whose mission statement aligns with my focus on the humanistic perspective. I want to do this not only for the experience, but for any potential national or travel prospects it may lead into.
  • Fall 2020

Goal #6: Enroll in PSY A495 internship. As a culmination of all my previous major milestones, I want to utilize as much as I can towards making the most of this Concentration in Behavior Analysis course and further build on what I've been practicing and preparing myself for. I intend to develop my analytical and problem-solving skills even more, learn more, and form a stronger network of professional contacts for my endeavors for the rest of my senior year and beyond.
