During the Early Church, Christians were persecuted by the Romans and accused of practicing cannibalism because they ate and drank of the Body and Blood of Christ.

    The celebration of the Eucharist is not a private devotion but rather a communal gathering much like a family meal. We come together at the same time and in the same place. We open with a ceremony of pardoning, a way to unburden ourselves of past offenses so that we can rejoice in one another’s company. Later we will share a sign of peace and reconciliation.
