Educational Timeline

  • National Education Association (NEA)

    National Education Association (NEA)
An appointed committee of ten to establish standard currculum. They decided grammar, literature, arithemetic, geography and history needed to be a core part of education.
I feel this is important because it made it possible for all students to have the same core education no mater where you go to school.
  • Cardinal Principles

    Cardinal Principles
Required that all students needed to follow the same traditional act of study. This was important because it gave all stidents, boys and girls, equal oppertunities in life.
  • U.S. Supreme Court's Brown ruled to desegregate America's Public Schools

U.S. Supreme Court's Brown ruled to desegregate America's Public Schools
This allowed all students, regardless of physical appearance, to attend school. This was a essential part of education because it gave all students the oppertunity for a quality education.
  • Education for All Handicapped Children Act

Later named the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This Act made it law for all individuals with disabilities be able to attend school for free. I feel this is very important because all students need to have equal oppertunities.
  • No Child Left Behind Act

    No Child Left Behind Act
This particular act is not one of my favorites. It puts an extreme amount of pressure on the students and staff to preform well on the standardized test. It just proves that the government uses money to control the school systems.
