    Arguably one of the most controversial pieces of education technology to enter the classroom has been the calculator. Used by students to assist with calculations in classrooms. It also improved student interest, stimulate classroom environments, and invoke higher student self-concept. These devices allow for flexibility, convince and support to students.

    SCANTRON SHEETS
    Used to score classroom quizzes in a shorter amount of time. Encouraged the development of multiple choice quizzes in the classroom as it was used as a testing aid for scoring these tests.
  • FLOPPY DISKS

    FLOPPY DISKS
    Created by IBM and was used for distribution of software or for transferred data and making backups. Students used this form of technology to store work for later dates.
  • CASSETTE / AUDIO RECORDERS / VIDEO TAPES (VHS) (Audio Visual technology)

    CASSETTE / AUDIO RECORDERS / VIDEO TAPES (VHS) (Audio Visual technology)
    Allows a user to listen to pre-recorded text or to capture spoken information and play it back later. VHS allows for immediate play back and assist teachers in the classroom by providing some relief. It was also used to asses and monitor teachers in the classroom. The use of audio visual technology in the classroom integrates the outside world in to the classroom. This form of technology helps to engage students giving them more information.

    READER RABBIT
    This is a keyboard educational game for children created in 1983 by The Learning Company. This series is aimed at children from infancy to the age of nine. The games teach language arts including basic skills in reading and spelling, and mathematics.
  • IBM COMPUTER

    IBM COMPUTER
    The first personal computers, the IBM 5150 consisted of a system unit, a keyboard, a color/graphics capability and options including a display, a printer, up to two diskette drives. This technology was used in the classroom to assist teachers in delivering the content of the lesson. It can be noted that schools generated computer labs to facilitate the use of the computers for students and teachers.

    During the 1980s, networks were widely used to support scientific research. As their potential were seen it was used to improve academic disciplines. The implementation of the internet offers students a number of ways to learn, access information from multiple sites, educational games and videos. The internet bridged the communication gaps by allowing students to experience virtual field trips and many other interesting experiences right within the classroom space.

    This educational technology used back in the 1990’s saw success in many ways. Benefits like making review or revision of work convenient, makes It easier for the teacher to structure content, makes the learning process fun, increases the level of engagement between teachers and students, allows students with various disabilities to learn better, and brings convenience and flexibility in learning to the classroom.

This forum encourages collaboration and team work.

Mobile learning technologies offer teachers-and students-a more flexible approach to learning.

    Children find it hard to understand what is not visible. Visual learning improves the pupils' understanding of functionality and by seeing the whole image, children are able to understand the parts. 3D technology brings the lesson content to life. It has been proven to cause greater retention of the lesson, a high percentage of students prefer learning by visual and kinesthetic mediums.
