    MOOC stands for massive open online course. MOOCs are exactly what they sound like, a free online course created for distance learning. They can be structured and more formal like college courses, or not very structured at all.

    An open textbook that is released with an open license. Some key characteristics are free access, permission to modify, permission to share, digital format, and print options.

    With more options for online learning becoming available, learning analytics became more important. These provide an equivalent to some face-to-face signals in an online environment.

Some key aspects include digital format, metadata, open badges standard, online display, microcredentials, verification and authenticity, and motivation and recognition.

    The COVID-19 pandemic brought a lot of challenges to education. With the nationwide shutdown, schools had to unexpectedly move online with many teachers learning some of this technologies with their students. Post pandemic, we can still see a lot of its impacts in the education system, with almost all necessary resources being available online.
