A civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including, jobs, schools, transportation and all public and private places that are open to the public. All have same rights and opportunities. -
No child left behind
George Bush signed "The no child left behind Act" into law. /the act aimed to ensure that all students, regardless of race or socioeconomic status would have access to a solid education.
It mandated that teachers must be highly qualified by the 2005/2006 school year, and students must be proficient by 2013/2014 school year. -
IDEA
A federal law that guarantees all eligible children with disabilities between the ages of 3-21 the right to free and appropriate public education designed to meet their needs. It was first passed in 1997, and again in 2004.
