  • The ipad

    The ipad
    Released in 2010, Apple’s ipad provided students with access to the internet, apps, and assignments from teachers in a more accessible format than traditional computers. Ipad’s were more cost effective for schools and provided access to educational apps and helped familiarize students with digital technology.
  • Office 365

    Office 365
    Released in 2011, Microsoft’s Office 365 provided students with applications such as word, powerpoint, and excel in one package. Universities and public schools began offering 365 to all students to help complete assignments and communicate ideas. Office 365 also facilitated collaboration on group projects remotely.
  • Duolingo

    Duolingo
    Released in 2012, Duolingo provided students with an app to learn foreign languages through daily activities and games. Available on both apple and android devices Duolingo provided mobile instruction that was as engaging as classroom instruction. Instructors used the Duolingo activities and games to reinforce their lessons and even used these games as homework assignments.
  • Canvas

    Canvas
    Released in 2016, Canvas provided students and instructors with an online platform to upload course material and assignments. As online instruction became more popular along with courses becoming more digitized, canvas became a hub used across the country. Canvas came equipped with functions to upload powerpoints, required readings, and an email function to communicate with students.
  • Zoom

    Zoom
    Originally released in 2011, Zoom became an essential piece of technology during the pandemic. As schools were forced to go fully remote, teachers were scrambling for a way to instruct students in a changing world. While this time was full of challenges Zoom allowed large groups of students to meet with teachers face-to-face. While we have resumed in-person instruction, zoom still remains a staple in education to schedule meetings, record lectures, and meet after-hours.
