  • North Carolina State University

    Founded in 1887, NCSU is a public university in North Carolina. Today it is known primarily for its engineering program, but also its education program is way better.
  • Brown v. Board of Education

    According to "The History of Special Education Law in the United States" by Peter W.D. Wright and Pamela Darr Wright, Brown v. Board of Education was a court case that resulted in the desegregation of schools based on race. This court decision led to parents creating lawsuits that advocated for their children to not be excluded and segregated because of their disabilities.
  • The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)

    According to the “Timeline of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)”, this law was part of a series of laws enacted as part of the "War on Poverty." Signed by Lyndon B. Johnson, it aimed to provide "access to education for all students". The video “Special Education Law” states that this law includes policies like free and reduced lunch programs, initiatives to help low-income families, and providing additional teachers to low-income schools.
  • Vocational Rehabilitation Act & Section 504

    Primarily ensures that federal funding cannot be allocated in ways that are discriminatory toward students with disabilities. 504 specifically ensures that students with disabilities have equal access to education.
  • OD&D

    The original Dungeons & Dragons was released in 1974. The game was based on already-established wargames. D&D today has evolved into the world's most popular roleplaying game.
  • Public Law 94-142: The Education for All Handicapped Children Act of 1975

    According to "The History of Special Education Law in the United States" by Peter W.D. Wright and Pamela Darr Wright, this law was enacted by Congress with the goal of ensuring that all children with disabilities were able to receive an education and establishing ways to hold education agencies accountable. This law has been renewed and reauthorized several times, the latest of which in 2004.
  • Education of Handicapped Act Amendments

    The video “Special Education Law” states that free and appropriate education for students with disability were now provided to students of ages 3 to 5. This also provided early intervention programs for children 2 years and younger.
  • Americans with Disabilities Act

    The video “Special Education Law” states this law aims to protect people with disabilities from discrimination in the workforce, schools, and anywhere in general. This law also provides equal opportunity for employment (can't be not hired due to having a disability), transportation, and accommodation.

  • IDEA Improvement Act (IDEIA)

    The video “Special Education Law” surmises that IDEIA created higher standards for getting certification or license to teach special education. Additionally, IDEIA increased financial support to early intervention services.
  • WALL-E

    In 2008, Pixar Studios released WALL-E, a sci-fi animated film about many topics including waste, taking care of the planet, robots, etc. Who knew a film where two robots who can't even talk, that doesn't even have any dialogue for like half the film would be so emotionally thrilling!?!
  • Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

    The video “Special Education Law” summarizes ESSA with the main idea that states have more power when it comes to standardized testing and consequences for low performance. ESSA also restricts the number of students allowed to take alternative assessments to 1 percent and includes bullying prevention plans.
  • Puss in Boots 2

    The Puss in Boots 2 movie was released at the end of 2022. Its gross earnings surpassed the highly anticipated sequel to Avatar. This movie is amazing.
