EAC Timeline - Draft

  • EAC is founded

The vision became a reality when on Sptember 17, 1956 Joseph Brucato, from 3M, called to inform Maria Thereza Sanford Brasil that 3M headquarters had agreed to start an American School in Campinas. He not only knew his 5-year-old son would benefit from this school, but many other families as well. The first location was: Rua Coronel Quirino #1010 with four students, children of 3M employees. Maria Thereza Sanford Brasil worked as teacher and principal.
  • EAC changes location

The school, now with 13 students, moved to another rented house at Rua Maria Monteiro 744, as other industries with similar needs moved to the Campinas region and joined talents and resources with 3M to continue the school. Those companies were: Clark Equipments, BF Goodrich, Singer, Rigesa, General Electric, Bendix, Merk Sharp & Dohme, GoodYear and Champion.
  • EAC moves to a farm

The dacade started with the school moving from Cambuí to the new campus at Chácara Vera previously owned by Mr. Alfredo Dowe. The original chácara has abundant jaboticabas, mangoes, bananas, orange trees most of which are still providing fruit today. Right after the property was bought, the constructuion of 6 classrooms was initiated where the elementary school is today. Finally, the school started on the new campus with 87 students.
  • New high school building

The construction of a new high school building was approved. The project included an auditorium, which was also used as a multi-function room, divided by sliding partitions, for English, French and History classes. This building also has two separate classrooms for Science Lab/Math and Chemestry Lab.

    Three major sport traditions

The Giants: when EAC started there were only a few athletes to represent the school in the competitions, but they were proud enough to call themselves "the Giants"! SPHSL: EAC Giants joined early in the 70s playing boys basketball. Rancho: Although since 1996 the tournaments have been held at Acampamento Nosso Recanto, Rancho Ranieri was the original venue for sports tournaments in the 70s. That is why some students still refer to the sports tournament as "Rancho".
