Initiation: Rumours and Conspiracies
While Spain was suffering from Napoleon's eagerness to conquer Spain, in New Spain, Creoles started to make plans in how they should overthrow the current government. They were tired of how the Spaniards and the Peninsulares, treated them as inferiors, not letting them have a word in the political world. So Miguel Hidalgo, Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez, Ignacio Allende, and Juan Aldama in the ConsConspiración of Queretaro, they finally came to an agreement of how they would start the independence, -
Initiation: A Change of Plans
When Josefa's husband came home, Josefa inmediattely knew they've discovered their plans. Her husband didn't wanted Josefa to do anyhting more dangerous than she already did, so he locked her in the house. Using her feet, she tapped a lot of times until Ignacio Pérez heard her and came to the top floor, where Josefa told him they've been uncovered. Ignacio rushed and told Ignacio Allende. WIthout questioning, Ignacio Allende went to warn Miguel Hidalgo. -
Consodilation: The Ultimatum
When Ignacio Allende reached Miguel Hidalgo, he told him how they've been uncovered. Miguel Hidalgo needed to decide between two things: either start the independence movement now, or never. He went outside and with the help of Ignacio Allende and Juan Aldama, they went for the indians and brought them outside the chappel. Then Miguel Hidalgo started the independence movement by shouting three things: "Viva la Virgen de Guadalupe!", "Abajo el mal gobierno!" and "Viva Fernando VII!". -
Consolidation: Fire is Catching
After the Grito de Dolores, Miguel Hidalgo moved from Dolores Hidalgo Guanuajuato, to the city of Guanuajuato, where they planned tot ake out the Alhodinga de Granaditas but there was a problem. There was this huge wooden door and because of that door, the guerrilla army couldn't enter and claim the alhondiga for themselves. Migeul Hidalgo asked a brave Indian which nowdays we call El Pipila to grab a torch and burn the wooden door. He put a rock on his back and went towards the door. -
Resistance: The Battle of Defeat
After they succesfully took the Alhondiga de Granaditas, Miguel Hidalgo and his army went to take Mexico City but because of his reasons, Miguel Hidalgo turned back, making his huge mistake. While going towards El Bajío, Spaniard troops who were in the command Torcuato Trujillo, defeated without mercy Miguel Hidalgo's army. That batlle was called "La Batalla del Monte de las Cruces." -
Resistance: Why do we fall?...
After the defeat of La Batalla del Monte de las Cruzes, Miguel Hidalgo retreated and later confronted Felix María Calleja, where he put an end to Migue Hidalgo's army. The battle ocurred in El Puente de Calderón. After the defeat, Miguel Hidalgo, Ignacio Allende, and Juan Aldama managed to escape, but where later found and captured. They killed them shortly after that. -
Resistance: Live for the future
On this date Migeul Hidalgo was shot by a firing squad. Before this, they needed to make sure they took their name as a father so they did something to his hands and prepared him to die. Even though he and his friends died, the independence did not. Jose Maria Morelos took in charge where he must live, live for the future. -
Consodilation/Resistance:..So that we can learn how to pick up ourselves again.
During the next 4 years, Jose Maria Morelos directed the independence movement. He never gave up and fought until his lasy breath. On this date, Morelos was finally defeated in Temalaca and sentences to death in December. -
Resistance: The Light in the Dark
A long time passed after Morelos was killed, but Guerrero took his place and resisted for the next 6 years the Spaniards oppression. While he was doing that, Agustín de Iturbide wanted to become the emperor of Mexico. So he contacted Guerrero and made the Plan de Iguala where Iturbide told him he will join forces with him under three conditions: Catholisism will be the only religion, Mexico will be its own country but will answer to the king, and that it will be sustained by the three guarantees -
Consummation: Mexico's Dreams of the Past
This day marks the independence of Mexico. Agustín Iturbide, after making El Plan de Iguala, marched towards Mexico City and took it for himself and for the rest of the people. Everything that Ignacio Allende, Josefa Ortiz, Aldama, and Miguel Hidalgo had started finally came to an end. Later, Iturbide established himself as the first emperor of Mexico.
