Treaty of Paris
In 1763, The Treaty of Paris established the end
of the seven year war between France and England.
England got colonies from France. This brought a difficult economic situation, so the British parliament
passed some taxes to collect funds from the colonies: -
The Sugar Act
The Sugar Act (1764) which
established duties on sugar. -
The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act (1765), duties on
legal documents, newspaper and other
printed matters. -
The Town shed Acts
The Town shed Acts (1767) were
passed, this time duties were on glass, paper and lead,
pant and tea imports. This led to the Boston Massacre
in 1770, where British troops fired on a crew. After
this, the acts were suspended except on tea, The Tea
Act (1773). The response to this act was The Boston
Tea Party, where the colonies declared that they
would not pay tax on tea.
