    While there is some debate of exactly when this started, in the 1800s, The University of Chicago started a correspondence education program that had 3,000 students, 350 course and 125 instructors. Although this education was seen as inferior by the elites, it was a way for have equity for all students.

    The University of Wisconsin begin an Armature Wireless station. By 1920, 176 educational institution receive broadcast licenses. Schools start broadcasting all campus events (sports, performing arts, etc.).

    After the founding of the world wide web(1991), programs start to arise and take off. NYU (1998) (nonprofit) started one of the first for-profit sections of a non-profit institute. During this time, colleges are working on online learning and pedagogy for online teaching and learning .ELearning is coined in 1999.

    Where would we be without online learning?!
    It is crazy to think this is a relatively new way we learn and to see how it has evolved. We know the past two years with the pandemic have shifted everything and we all have had to adjust. In the Early 2000s, 81% of colleges at least had 1 online course. During the pandemic, we were pretty much all online at some point and the online learning development is still improving and growing.
