US Rehabilitation Act of 1973
-The U.S. Rehabilitation Act of 1973 prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in programs conducted by Federal agencies
-Section 504 has provided opportunities for children and adults with disabilities in education, employment and various other settings. It allows for reasonable accommodations such as special study area and assistance as necessary for each student.

Event 7: Major Accomplishments
- 1964: President Johnson passed the Disability Rights Act which ended the discrimination of disabled people in public as well as in the work place
- 1965: Medicare and Medicade were established to go along with Social Security for disabled people
- 1970: the world's first disability provision was passed with Section 504
