De Vaca and his crew die
Once the ships left De Vaca and his crew, thery got so despreate they ate their horses. Little did thEy know. some of the horses had the flu. One by one, De Vaca and his crew died out. -

Spain sends Ramos to explore the Gulf Coast for gold
Spain was still hunbgry for gold, so they sent Adan Santiago Ramos to explore the Gulf Coast. He was sent with 500 men, 5 ships, and more than 800 animals for food. -

Ramos and his men are attacked by Mississippi tribe
While crossing the Mississppi River, the crew was attacked by the Choctaw Indians. about 50 men died, and over 80 was injured. Some of their cattle was killed, and the others were stolen. Ramos took most of their women and children chopped off their fingers. With the men, however, Ramos cut off their toes. -

Ramos reaches Texas
The crew stepped their first step in Texas. they traveled Southwest and encountered the Coahulitecans, and Jumanos, along with the Caddo Indians. The Caddo and Jumanos died out almost immidiantly. On the other hand, the Coahulitecans were slaughtered for trying to take cattle. Some were hung, and others were drowned to death. -

Ramos dies from food poisoning
Once eating a horse raw, Ramos was really sick and he later died from food poisoning. Legend says he was buried in Brownsville, but others think he was thrown in the Rio Grande.
