Concerts and Musicals Through the Years

  • T-swizzy

    T-swizzy
In 2008 I went to my first concert at the age of 5. It was a Taylor Swift concert at the State Fair. I can't remember much from the experience, but I remember asking my mom if it was really Taylor Swift and not just somebody in a costume. It was really Taylor Swift.

Taylor Swift is not the kind of artist you can only go to once. My second time seeing her was during her RED tour in Fargo. I still have the t-shirt.

In January of 2014, I went to my first, and only, country music concert. It was Lady Antebellum opened by Kip Moore. At the time, I was a huge fan and the concert was surreal. Now, I couldn't care less about country music.

Once again, I saw Taylor Swift. In 2015, she opened her 1989 tour, which was by far my favorite of hers. My seats were on the floor right next to the stage and she pointed at me once or twice. We're basically best friends now.

Rock Out With Your Socks Out
During the stage of my life when I decided to pretend to be punk rock, I got obsessed with the band 5 Seconds of Summer. When I got the opportunity to see them in concert, I felt like I had peaked in life. Though I still like their music, I promise I'm not as obsessed as I used to be.
  • Childhood Dream

    Childhood Dream
In 2016, I saw the third grade love of my life, Justin Bieber. The concert was awful and very disappointing. He looked bored and he hardly connected with the crowd, which is what makes concerts fun in the first place. 2/10 would not recommend.
  • RIP One Direction

Last summer, I saw another one of the loves of my life, Harry Styles. It was easily the best concert I have ever been to. He is even more beautiful in person. 10/10 would recommend
  • Musical Family

    Musical Family
My mom was always a fan of Broadway, a trait she passed down to my sister and I. Abby and I bought my mom and us tickets to see the traveling Broadway cast of Les Miserables at the Orpheum theater in Minneapolis over Christmas break. It was my first professional Broadway musical and it's an experience I'll never forget.

Just a few weeks ago, my mom and I paid a visit to my sister at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. While we were there, the University's theater department was putting on the production Legally Blonde. Being us, we had to see it. It was amazing (as expected). If only it were actually that easy to get into Harvard Law School.
  • And Finally...

    And Finally...
After seeing Legally Blonde at Creighton, it was time for my second professional Broadway musical. Come From Away not only has an incredible, true storyline, but the music was perfect. There was a live band of only seven people and the whole cast consisted of only twelve.
