    Intel releases 1103 DRAM IC
William Regitz and Joel Karp invented the intel 1103, the first commercially available DRAM IC. It was first used in the HP 9800, which, some would consider, the "first computer". HP 9800 computers started out as programmable calculators. This paved the way to develop the computers used across the world currently.

  • The first commercially used microprocessor, the 4004, is released

The first commercially used microprocessor, the 4004, is released
Invented by Federico Faggin, with the help of Ted Hoff and Masatoshi Shima. The first commercially used microprocessor, it was mainly used for things like cash registers and calculators. However, many more microprocessors would succeed the 4004. In fact, 80% of the computers in the world use intel microprocessors, and it all started with this one.
  • The first 8-bit microprocessor, the Intel 8008, is released

The first 8-bit microprocessor, the Intel 8008, is released
With some minor adjustments to the design, overseen by Federico Faggin, he created the 1201 microprocessor. However, the company that manufactured the 1201, no longer needed it because it wasn't powerful enough for their products. They left the intellectual rights to Intel, and they renamed it to the Intel 8008, or i8008 for short. The first true micro-computer was made using this processor.
  • IBM releases the IBM Winchester Hard Disk Drive

IBM releases the IBM Winchester Hard Disk Drive
The first hard drive to make the invention of the modern personal computer more feasible, it was truly one of a kind. The previous hard drives were fragile, and were as big as several cubic feet. Developed by Kenneth Haughton, this technology made data storage much more compact and cheaper.
  • Intel 8080 (i8080) is released

    Intel 8080 (i8080) is released
Although the names of the engineers behind the creation of this microprocessor are unknown, it is known that Intel engineered and manufactured it. This processor was used for single-board computers, and paved the way for more technological advancements besides personal computers. Such technologies include the raspberry pi, printers, even washing machines and arcade machines.
