  • Plankalkul

    Designed by Conrad Zuse, and is used for engineering purposes and waqs the first high level non Nuemman language developed.

  • Fortran

    Was designed by John Backus. It is a general imperative programming language that is used for numercal computation and scientific computing.

  • MATH-MATIC

    Developed by Charles Katz, and is used as a commercial compiler for UNIVAC.

  • Lisp

    Developed by John McCarthy, is primarily used as a high level programming language and has many dialects used in artificial intelligence.

  • COBOL

    COBOL=Common Business-Oriented Language. Was developed by private commitee's including Grace Hopper, William Selden, and Gertrude Tierney. It is one of the oldest programming languages, and is still used in object-orientation.

  • RPG

    Developed by IBM, and is a High level programming language. RPD= Report program generator. Its used in business applications.

  • BASIC

    Created by John Kemeny and Thomas Kurtz. It was created to provide access to computers to non-science students. BASIC=Beginners All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code.

  • LOGO

    Developed by Wally Feurzig, and is primarily used in education, and most computer science concepts.

  • B

    Was designed by Bell Labs, with work from Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie. Used in older HoneyWell mainframes but for the most part extinct. It was a very basic programming language leaving out components that BCPL had that Thompson felt weren't needed.

    Developed by Denise Ritchie. Used in cross platforming programming. One of the most widely used languages.

  • Pascal

    Developed by Niklaus Wirth, and is used in data structuring and structured programming.

  • ML

    Developed by Robin Milner. ML stands for metalanguage, and it is used in language design and munipulation.

  • SQL

    Developed by Donald D Chamberlain. Its used for managing held data in a relational database managment system. SQL= Structured query language.

  • ADA

    Developed by John Ichbiah, and is used in governmental high security domains.

  • C++

    Bjarne Stroustrup was the producer, C++ is a general programming language. It is most commonly used in Hardware and platforms for operating systems.

  • Delphi

    Commonly known as Object Pascal. Developed by an Apple team that was lead by Larry Tesler. Was needed to support MacApp, and class libraries.

  • Python

    Developed by Guido Van Rossum and is used mainly for code readibility. It is a High level programming language.

  • Visual Basic

    Developed by Microsoft, and is used to create simple applications using C++ that is much simpler to use.

  • Java

    Designed by James Gosling. Made to have as few implementation dependencies as possible and let developers write easy code.

  • Javascript

    Developed by Brandon Eiche. Very common in game developments and desktop applications.

  • PHP

    Developed by Rasmus Ledorf, and is used as a server side scripting language used for web developement.
