HISPANIC PERIOD OR COLONIAL PERIOD
Around the year 1499, the first Spaniards began to arrive in what is now Colombian territory. Previously, Christopher Columbus had made contact with the American continent on October 12, 1492.
The first contact was by Alonso de Ojeda in 1499 with Américo Vespucio, founding the first Spanish settlement: San Sebastián de Urabá. Thus would begin the Spanish domain of the territory, which spanned over 300 years. -
