First Day of School
Divide students into small groups and have them write out 4 rules that will ensure they have an ideal classroom. The whole class then votes to determine 5 rules to govern the class. -
Second Day of School
Revisit rules created on the first day. Discuss and model classroom rules and procedures. Be very detailed and ask the students to practice what they have watched you do. -
Third Day of School
Go over rules and procedures and practice some more. Check for students' understanding by asking questions and by asking them to model the required routine or behavior. -
Fourth Day of School
Make comments and clarifications based on your observation of how students have obeyed the rules and carried out the procedures. Have the students sign a commitment to the rules of the classroom and have it sent home and acknowledged by parents/ guardians -
Subsequently
The rules and Procedures should be revisited often. For example; after the weekends, 2 weeks after resumption, at the beginning of a new unit or at the beginning of a new term. These are just examples, the rules and procedures can be revisited as often as you deem fit.
