Start of the Yuan Dynasty
The Mongols overthrew the Jurchen and Song rulers and invaded China. Kublai Khan became the first ruler of the Yuan Dynasty in A.D. 1260. -

Start of Ming Dynasty
Zhu Yuanzhang was the first ruler of the Ming Dynasty. He overthrew the Yuan dynasty and led the rebellion for it. When he became emperor, he changed his name to Hong Wu. -
The Qing Dynasty
The Manchus set up this dynasty. They took in Manchuria, Mongolia, and Tibet, and became the largest Chinese empire that ever existed. -
Sui Dynasty
This dynasty lasted only 40 years, but the first emperor Yang Jian established a basis of Chinese empire. -
Tang Dynasty Ends
Li Yuan took control of the Tang Dynasty in A.D. 618 because of uprisings against the Sui Dynasty. -
The Start of the Song Dynasty
China ruled military dynasties. Zhao Kuangyin established the Song dynasty by seizing the throne.
